TARP INITIATIVE TO FOCUS ON ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS EMIGRATING FROM THE UNITED STATES

February 11 2009

Washington, DC – “We are going through the worst economic crisis since the great depression,” said President Barack Obama at his first official press conference on Monday. “So what I'm trying to underscore is what the people in Elkhart already understand, that this is not your ordinary, run-of-the-mill recession.”Barack Obama press conference

With that the new President laid down the gauntlet to any challengers to the newest economic package aimed at stimulating the stuttering economy. Not only was the President stepping forward in his first major policy decision, he was making it clear to the American people that TARP (Troubled Assets Relief Program) is the only thing that can be done to save jobs and resurrect the economy. The new initiative comes as more than 500,000 Americans are losing their jobs every month, and as is happening more and more frequently, people are beginning to emigrate from the United States in order to find work.illegal immigrant sign

“I left my family and lost four years with them. I will ask them to forgive me,” said Pedro Pablo who recently booked a ticket back to his native Guatemala after finding his American dream shattered. “”I thought I could get ahead here. I regret coming.”
Pablo is like millions of other illegal immigrants who are finding that the streets of American cities are in fact not paved with gold; that there are no money trees growing in people’s yards. More and more these illegals are heading back to their native countries in hopes of finding greener pastures.

“More than 1 million illegal immigrants left the United States last year,” said Steven Camarota of the Center for Immigration Studies. “That departure began even before the nation’s economy took a turn for the worse.”illegal immigrants on water

While many are blaming the credit and banking crisis for much of the departures, many are also pointing to factors such as free trade and outsourcing to countries like China for the decrease in menial labour tasks.

“The reality is there are fewer crummy jobs available in the United States and as the economy continues to nose dive more and more of those jobs are being taken by natives. If a wealthy farmer or somebody looking for a maid has the choice between a native American or a foreign worker more often than not they are going gold to choose the American,” said Scrape TV Business analyst Ken Green. “Aside from the language issue, immigration reforms have made it more and more difficult to hire illegals without fear of prosecution. In the current environment risk of trouble with labour officials is a whole lot less likely than immigration officials.”

While there are immediate benefits to the decrease in illegal immigrants in the country with more jobs for natives and lower tax rates being chief among them, the cost is being passed on to the wealthy who for years have depended on low wages for back breaking labour.the grapes of wrath

“America was built on the principle of low wages for hard work. From the days of slavery, to the migrant workers in the 1930’s, to the modern day the rich have always stayed that way by paying people poorly and having them do the worst jobs imaginable,” continued Green. “The decrease in low paid workers means an increase in the cost of goods which reduces consumer spending which doesn’t help the economy at all. The under economy has always fuelled the prosperity of the United States and now even that seems to be drying up which could signal an even more profound economic crisis than we are currently seeing. Things may never get back to the way they were. But at least people will have a tarp to live under.”man under tarp

Workers emigrating from the United States are finding it just as difficult in their native countries, economies who have long depended on American affluence for their own success.

“People sending back money, human smuggling, drug trafficking, these are all sectors that are starting to dry up in nations like Mexico, Ecuador, Guatemala, Colombia, etc. The only benefit is that people are able to live with their families,” continued Green. “That’s small comfort to some who dreamed of glory in the United States. Their American dream has gone just as south as they themselves have. Family is great, but gold streets, that’s something else entirely.”south american prostitutes

Early estimates are that the depreciation of illegal workers in the United States will surpass that of native workers sometime in March. So far the Department of Immigration has released no numbers on how many Americans have departed the country to work illegally in South America.

“I’d expect those numbers to be significant. South American employers have always done well in exploiting human misery.”
