YAHOO & MICROSOFT SPOTTED TOGETHER IN CENTRAL PARK

July 15 2008

New York, NY – Far from the prying eyes of Silicon Valley, Yahoo and Microsoft have been spotted in New York’s Central Park, apparently having patched up their differences. Representatives from both companies were spotted strolling through the park over the weekend.

The two, who have been embroiled in a very public and very acrimonious relationship over the last few months, appeared, at least on the surface, to have come to some kind of agreement on the future of their relationship.

The back and forth that has gone on between the two; even to the point of bringing others into the game, has been both exciting and heartbreaking for those of us observing, and while  this meeting seems to indicate that something genuine has sparked and they might be moving forward, we’ve been at this place before. I’m personally keeping my fingers crossed because the two seem to be made for each other, but you can never really tell in situations like this. These types of things are sticky at the best of times.”

Those other parties, Google, News Corp., and corporate raider Carl Icahn, were all unavailable for comment on these recent developments.  Both Google and Icahn, competing for partnership on different levels, have been the most aggressive and public suitors of the onetime web darling. It stands to reason that those two parties have the most at stake should the MS overture prove successful.

“It’s very clear what Google is after, but the reality is they are very controlling and overbearing so I don’t believe that  it would be the ideal relationship for Yahoo to pursue,” continued Green. “Of course on the other hand, Icahn seems to be out for only one thing, and once he gets what he wants, he’s going to leave the company behind to pick up the pieces. Really, a more mature and responsible company like Microsoft would be the ideal situation. They have lots of experience, lots of money, and a great support structure. Yahoo made a mistake in my opinion rejecting them in the first place, and they should not do the same again.”jerry yang smiling

Yahoo and Microsoft were equally tight lipped on the recent developments. Yahoo CEO apparently ducked reporters completely outside the company’s Sunnyvale, California headquarters. A few photographers caught a quick look at the executive and described him as “looking flush”. So far, there are no plans to officially address the media regarding the situation.

“This situation is definitely getting a little tiring, but these types of hook-ups are rarely smooth. Sometimes, we on the outside just need to step back, have patience, and hope that they can work it out on their own time. Let’s Hope we end up with a happy ending.”
