AMERICAN AIRLINES OFFERING LOW LEVEL PASSES OF WTC RECONSTRUCTION
November 22 2009
New York, NY – There are few events in the world that it can definitively said actually change things forever. Major wars of course help to alter the course of many nation’s destinies but often those conflicts are progressive, a part of a cumulative effect. For

one event to fundamentally change things is extremely rare though it does, on occasion, happen so powerfully that things feel like they may never settle down again. For the United States the attacks on the World Trade Center was one of those moments.
Now, eight years after that shocking and devastating day, with thousands more dead and the face of the nation and in some respects the face of the entire world irrevocably altered, construction workers are starting to restore some normalcy with the rebuilding of number 1 WTC. The new building, nicknamed ‘Freedom Tower’ will replace the two buildings that fell on that day and bring to the city of New York the opportunity to heal their literal and metaphysical wound. To mark the event and in an effort to allow people from all

across the country to help witness that healing, American Airlines has hatched a new plan to offer low level passes over the construction area, giving passengers a birds-eye view of the reconstruction.
“The events of 9/11 are perhaps the most awe inspiring and saddening moments in our long history. Never has our country been so gripped by grief and ultimately strength. Now that this massive scar in the center of New York City, the greatest city in the world, has finally begun to heal so too will the souls of all Americans and everyone around the world that has been touched by the events of that day,” said a spokesperson for American Airlines. “We will be offering all visitors to New York City the opportunity to witness the healing of that massive hurt and through that we believe they too will begin to heal. This is an opportunity for all Americans to come together and celebrate the beauty of the American spirit.”
All flights to New York City booked before January 31, 2010 will be eligible for the low level pass. The flight will navigate its way through the buildings of the city and pass within a few metres of the top of the construction site.
“Because of all the activity in the area, especially now that the reconstruction has begun, it is very difficult for people to get anywhere near the site. This provides visitors to the city to not only get close to the site but to also have a very unique perspective on the building that really means so much to so many people,” said Scrape TV Airline analyst Jeffry Johnson. “It’s also a very clever way to get people back in the air. Many have eschewed air flight because of the rough economy but now they are being given an opportunity to not just travel, but also engage in a completely unique tourist experience, something that should definitely help their bottom line. I wouldn’t be surprised to see other airlines doing the same thing.”
Some critics have noted that such low flights might endanger workers and potentially in accidents as the planes navigate their way through the mesh of buildings but the airline has stated that no such issues will occur.
“We fully realize the risks involved and we want to assure people that we are taking every possible security precaution to ensure that no accidents occur. People should have no concerns about the flights and we would love it if people waved from the street. That’s how close we will be,” continued the spokesperson. “This is the best opportunity for the American people to join in on the reconstruction of not only the site but also of the American spirit, something we are overjoyed to be able to provide.”
The airline also made it clear that they would cease flyovers once the building becomes too high.
