FORD TO INTRODUCE AMERICAN MADE ROCKET CAR

June 3 2010

Detroit, MI – There was a time when the American automobile was the only automobile that anyone drove. Though the car was not invented in the United States, the revolutions that American companies made in the first half of the 20th century, model T
combined with the devastated industrial sectors of Japan and Germany, made the American-made car the dominant mode of transport. That ubiquity continued well into the 1970’s when foreign cars started to make headway throughout the industry. By the 1990’s the American automobile industry was struggling for its life and by the 2000’s was put on life support.

With cars that were dramatically safer, better on gas, cheaper, and required minimal maintenance the automobile industries of the two defeated powers laid waste to American manufacturers. By the time the big three took a massive bailout cheque from the United States government the game had already been decided, that action was simply stating the obvious. However American ingenuity being what it is everyone knew it was unlikely that those companies would simply lie down and expire. Copying what has worked from foreign companies, Ford, GM, and Chrysler have started to revamp themselves and the way American cars are made. Now, taking a cue from the largest car manufacturer in the world, Toyota, Ford has begun work its own version of the rocket car that garnered the Japanese giant so much attention earlier in the year.toyota camry

“The design is very similar to the one Toyota employed in the Camry and Corolla. It basically allows unlimited acceleration with little or no action from the driver. It’s not quite autopilot but it’s pretty close and we are well on our way to that future,” said a Ford insider. “For years and years we ignored what other manufacturers were doing and just stuck rigidly to our own discipline but that’s what got us into trouble. The other companies did a lot of things better than us and we ignored that the first time around but that isn’t going to happen this time. Toyota had a great idea and we are going to make sure we are a part of that.”

Like Toyota’s design, the new Ford line, which includes the Fusion and Mercury Milan, will utilize the floor mat to help accelerate the car.

“The harsh reality is that manufacturers in Japan and Germany made better cars. They toyota plant
made them for a better price and they gave customers what they wanted. American manufacturers made cars the way they had done for years and more or less ignored innovations by other companies and that left them looking and feeling old,” said Scrape TV Business analyst Ken Green. “There are other factors that contributed to the demise such as mismanagement and the power of the unions but the simple fact of the matter is that people were not buying their cars. When you are in the business of selling something, it’s usually best to make sure that people are buying them.”

Thus far this no expected date for the rocket cars to arrival at retail.ford plant

“Personally I drove a Honda. They are extremely reliable and great on gas and I imagine that I will be buying them for the rest of my life. That attitude, which is not mine alone, is something the Big Three are going to have to overcome if they are to be successful again. That is their greatest challenge,” continued Green. “Rocket cars are certainly one way towards that but they will still have a long road ahead of them. Luckily they have started to realize that they can follow other manufacturers and strive towards making the best car they can, not just the one they want to make. That will go a long way to helping their bottom line.”

It’s not clear if GM or Chrysler will also be developing their own rocket cars.
