G-20 PROTESTORS CELEBRATE BEST CONFERENCE EVER
June 28 2010
Toronto, Canada – The essence of democracy is that the will of the people supersedes the dominion of the government. By voting the people, the common man, exerts his or her will in determining their future and the way in which they are
governed. In day-to-day life such high level concepts rarely play a role but occasionally we do see the will of the people exerted over the leadership. While much of that rebellion is limited to angry music and vegan diets, genuine protest does occur and can change not only a society but the world.
For many the occasion to voice that dissent and to exert the will of people over the leadership is the annual G-8 and G-20 conferences. That set of meetings between the heads of states of the wealthiest countries in the world is a magnet for protestors and anarchist combatants as the most recent conference in Toronto displayed. With broken windows, spray paint, and burning police cars littering the streets of the city the will of the people was very much on display for the assembled leaders. Though there is no evidence that the protests had any effect on policy or even disrupted their travel routes, the sheer amount of destruction in the city has led to at least on positive result, increased overtime for everyone including the protestors who have declared the entire conference a huge success.
“Frankly this has been probably the best conference we have had yet. It has been the most productive and gotten us all kinds of attention. I’ve been to quite a few of these and I have to say that this is the best one yet. Unfortunately it also looks like it might be our last,” said local protestor ‘Lucas’. “We’ve seen all kinds of new faces and a whole bunch of old ones. The fact that we’ve been able to be this productive with so many restrictions has been really great. I really hope they hold another one next year, it would be a shame to lose this momentum and not see all these old friends again.”
‘Lucas’ claimed at least 15 broken windows by his own hand.
“Protest has long been an essential part of any democratic system, it really goes hand
in hand with the vote. It is the will of the people over the will of the government which

any rational society requires in order to function properly. We’ve tried other systems but none have worked as effectively as democracy.” said Scrape TV Business analyst Ken Green. “These protestors are working in the best tradition of democracy and in essence should be congratulated for upholding the principles of the system. Add to that the kind of economic growth that they have been able to enjoy and you see this protest system working very well for everyone. The governments are able to dismiss concerns because of radicalism and the radicals gain more staff. These conferences have been win-win across the board.”
The various protest organizations have not revealed their staffing or fiscal numbers publicly.
“For the last decade these kinds of protest groups have really become a major growth

sector and they may very well be in a position where it’s taking a life of its own. Every business needs an impetus, a medium on which to grow, before it can flower and live on its own. Hopefully they don’t take the end of these meetings as a sign that their business needs to go away,” continued Green. “There is nothing but upward potential for these organizations. As the world becomes more and more integrated and these mysterious and powerful heads of state start to exert more and more influence protesting will continue to be a viable business model and will continue to be for a long time to come.”
Many protest groups have already begun to move onto Seattle where a meeting of Washington State mayors commences early next week.
