WALMART NO LONGER INTERESTED IN SELLING BABIES

June 26 2010

Salinas, CA – The story of Walmart if one of the most amazing stories in American business history. In the nearly fifty years since Sam Walton founded his first location in Arkansas the company has grown to become one of the largest businesses ever sam walton
created with stores in Argentina, England, and China. By offering low prices on high quality products, the company has been able to appeal to consumers regardless of the demographic, making billions in the process and wielding a heretofore unheard of amount of power over manufacturers and even cities and states.

The power of Walmart has made it more than just a player in the retail world. The ability of the company to singlehandedly change the social and economic structure of an area has made it a potent political force and a tool for social reconstruction. While many companies have made money, few have had the ability to actually change the way in which society is run. Like the monopolies of days past Walmart is not simply a company, it is a government unto itself with enough visitors and employees to declare itself a nation. Even with all that growth and power Walmart has never strayed far from its roots, choosing to engage ordinary people rather than the uber-wealthy, a strategy which has made it billions of dollars. Despite that connection to the ordinary person however there are still some limits to their sales power as a Salinas couple found out the hard way.baby

“Two women reported that the suspects, Patrick Fousek, 38, and Samantha Tomasini, 20, approached them and offered to sell their baby. Initially the witnesses believed they were joking but when they became persistent the women became suspicious and contacted the police,” said police spokesperson Lalo Villegas. “They did an outstanding job and gave our officers good information. I don't know if they're mothers but they definitely had that instinct to help. The couple was arrested on Wednesday on multiple charges and the baby was taken by Child Protective Services. We believe the asking price was $25.”

Though Walmart does not sell babies it’s believed that if they were to ever get into the business they would charge much more than twenty-five dollars.baby boy

“You walk into a Walmart today and you can literally get almost anything. You could live in Walmart for months and live quite well. The sheer diversity of the product is incredible and the fact that you get it for such low prices is the reason the company has been and continues to be so successful,” said Scrape TV Business analyst Ken Green. “By perfecting that model the company has set a standard that all others simply aspire to but very rarely achieve. That said there are still things they don’t carry and babies are one of those things. Organs and other body parts are found at a few test locations but actual live human beings is something else and so far the company just hasn’t gotten into that field.”

Workers have long complained of slave wages but there is no evidence that those people are owned outright by Walmart.walmart employee

“Of course the other issue is having peddlers out in front of the store. Soliciting for charity donations is one thing but actually going out and selling your own product is something totally different. You could probably get away with that if you were off store property but actually being in front of the store would bring the wrath of the big W which frankly would be worse than the police,” continued Green. “I think it’s very unlikely that the company would ever get into selling people, even children. I’m sure they could find a way to turn a profit on such a business but the fresh factor would be a major issue and cause a lot of infrastructure problems. Plus all the feeding and changing, they’d be better off sticking to pets.”

A worker at the Salinas location stated that she felt like she had sold her soul to the company but corporate denied any such purchases.
