CIRCLE K REVOKES FRANCHISE AFTER CLERK DECLARES JIHAD

Denver, CO – For those who have never done it, it is difficult, if not impossible, to imagine what it would be like to leave a country you have lived in your entire life in order to begin anew in a new place. For many people in western nations travel is as 
about as adventurous as life gets, but for millions the reality of upsetting one’s life in exchange for a new one can be both exhilarating and terrifying.
In the America’s that story has been repeated over and over. The countries in the western hemisphere, particularly North America, have been built on immigration and today boast diverse populations from all over the world making that story and oft repeated and common tale. Immigration, though slowed, continues but as competition and economic tensions continue to grow, so does friction between different groups. Oftentimes those tensions take on the demeanour of the times and in the modern narrative that often means hatred and religious strife. Such turmoil exists throughout the United States and had seemingly reached every aspect of modern life, something now more evident than ever with word that convenience store giant Circle K has pulled a franchise in the Denver area after a clerk declared a Jihad during a recent shift.
“I can confirm that Circl
e K has in fact terminated a franchise agreement with one of
our partners in the Denver area. While such incidents are not unusual in this business, the circumstances leading up to the revocation is of a slightly different nature, necessitating a statement regarding the issue,” said a spokesperson for the company from the Tempe, Arizona headquarters. “After a thorough investigation we have determined that an employee at this particular location, on numerous occasions, acted in a manner contravening company policies. This clerk declared Jihad, or Holy War, against numerous customers prompting complaints to our customer service. When the franchise owner declined to act on these issues we were left with no choice but to withdraw the franchise licence. Our company will simply not stand for this type of behaviour.”
Apparently, pressure to pull the licence had reached parent company, Canada-based Alimentation Couche-Tard, after two customers complained very loudly.
“I have owned this store for many years and we have operated as a Circle K for many of those years. I do not feel that this action is fair or warranted. We were told of these incidents where our clerk apparently began yelling at customers but we could find no clear evidence that he had done what people had said and were therefore unable to discipline him,” said franchisee Miguel Cerva. “This man has worked with us for a number of years and he has always been a good employee. The company simply did not investigate these accusations and instead worked on the word of a handful of disgruntled customers. We do not feel these actions are sound or right and we have asked them to reconsider.”
The employee at the centre of the battle, who was not named, is apparently an immigrant from Yemen who has lived in the United States for at least ten years.
“For years the current dynamic in the world didn’t really touch some of the most obvious areas, namely convenience stores and taxis, but it appears that Al Qaeda operatives have finally begun to infiltrate those areas,” said Scrape TV Terrorism analyst Doug Davids. “This has really been an untapped resource for the organization considering how many convenience stores dot the American landscape. Just on sheer numbers they could launch a massive assault, at least they can if they get guys a little more subtle than this one and keep the stores open.”
Reportedly, intelligence officials have long been concerned about the use of convenience stores by terrorist organizations.
