DISCOVERY CHANNEL CAMERAS ON SCENE FOR DEADLY HOSTAGE TAKING

September 1 2010

Silver Spring, MD – Armed with a handgun a radical environmentalist walked into the Maryland headquarters for the Discovery Channel and held employees hostage. For four tense hours, police and James Jay Lee were at a standstill while three hostages hostages
laid in the balance. Ultimately police shot Lee, he died in hospital later, and freed the hostages. New information suggests that the Lee, who ran a website espousing radical environmental policies, may have been carrying explosive devices but was disarmed before detonating them. Discovery channel cameras were on site the entire time.

For years Discovery has been at the forefront of reality television, boasting such hit shows as ‘Deadliest Catch’ and ‘Man Vs Wild’, bringing the realities of life and death to the televisions of all Americans. Now that experience has paid off in spades as cameramen caught the terrifying hostage taking in glorious high definition. Though details of the hostage taking, and what exactly happened inside the building are being kept under wraps for now, it’s believed that network is planning a series of specials that may be turned into a series revolving around corporate hostage takings. Though such incidents are rare in the United States, the network has reportedly already started to formulate plans with cameramen around the world to bring a global perspective.

“Obviously everyone is really shaken up but they all seem to be alright, physically at man vs wild
least. We understand that this is going to take some time to deal with and we are offering counselling to all the workers in that office who had to experience this terrifying event. We are here for our people as we always are,” said a spokesperson for the channel. “However, this is an incredible opportunity. We have spent many years pursuing subjects but this time the subject came right to us and luckily our well trained personnel knew just what to do. They were on the case and now we have some really stellar footage that you will be seeing in the coming months.”

It’s believed likely that the footage will be used for the next sweeps period which will likely be in November.

“This is really a remarkable situation and it really couldn’t have happened in a more
fitting locale. I mean this could have happened at GM headquarters and it just would videographer
have been sad and scary because it happened here we have a whole new television show waiting in the wings. Discovery is really on top of things,” said Scrape TV Media analyst Sarah Piper. “Having this kind of thing happen at any television network would have been a great deal, well CNN excepted, but Discovery knows how to take real stories and make them into stories. Most news agencies simply report what’s happening, but Discovery weaves magic from these kinds of circumstances. It’s really remarkable and no one does it better. I can’t think of a more exciting place for this to have happened.”

Nearby, The History Channel it gearing up to put this hostage taking into a historical perspective.

“Personally I’m addicted to Discovery. There are a lot of great reality shows on the air deadliest catch
but they do something special with their stories and I can’t wait to see what they do with this. Obviously they are going to have to get the proper clearances and everything but once that’s done, it’s going to be great television,” continued Piper. “I hope though that they don’t go overboard with this. It would be very easy to take something that will be so popular and beating it until its dead. They have done reasonably well with that so far but I think that might be coming. Hopefully that doesn’t happen with this story.”

Lee’s family have reportedly already signed agreements to appear in the premiere episode.
