HOLLYWOOD PRODUCERS DEVELOPING YOUTUBE TV SHOW

October 4 2010

Hollywood, CA – No one doubts at this point that the web has more or less taken over popular culture. While other mediums still exist, and will for a long time, the influence of the web is fundamentally altering the way in which those works are the social network movie poster
produced, and the very nature of the content itself. The recent release of ‘The Social Network’ is a prime example of the way in which the web is influencing other mediums and s perhaps just a harbinger of things to come as the web continues to spread wider and wider.

Inevitably it is going to be the biggest success stories on the web that are going to be the most influential, again the portrayal of Facebook being the prime example of that happening. With critical raves and solid box office, it is clear to Hollywood that its old nemesis may in fact be a source of great success and now studios are turning more and more to the creations of the web to tell their own stories. Case in point, according to sources two rival production companies have begun pitching their ideas for a YouTube television show that will likely detail the rise of the hugely popular website, the daily goings on, all interspersed with clips of cute babies and kitten falling over themselves.sneezing panda

“The YouTube people have been courting producers for a long time. They have this core idea in place and they want to see who will be able to come up with the best way to see it through. There are apparently traditional documentary ideas, slightly fictionalized versions, and even an aggressive in your face reality style version which is apparently getting a lot of attention,” said a YouTube insider. “That last one would basically involve YouTube cameras roaming around looking for things to shoot, going to people’s homes and things like that. It’s an exciting concept that has really got the bosses excited but ultimately it’s up to Google.”

Google is the parent company of YouTube. A movie version of the founding of that company is already in development.

“It’s all up in the air right now but both sides rally want to make it happen. It will take cute kitten
a while to settle on the concept but it is going to happen. Personally I like the idea of having someone hosting and introducing clips submitted by users, kind of like that video show with the ‘Full House’ guy. That seems to be more in the nature of the site and that is obviously a formula that has worked,” continued the insider. “I’ve heard that Clive Owen is a big YouTube fan and it would be great to get him to host. He’s a little big at the moment though so that might not happen. Maybe Whoopi Goldberg? I’ve always loved Whoopi. Whatever ends up happening though I’m sure it will be good. People can never get enough of other people get hit in the nether regions.”cute baby

Bob Saget, the host of ‘America’s Funniest Home Videos’ is apparently dead or dying or something.

“It’s really kind of funny that there is this growing synergy between the web and Hollywood. There has been from the beginning this notion that the web was going to kill the movie industry but now we see it buoying it, and not just from some nebulous idea of exposure versus exploitation,” said Scrape TV Business analyst Ken Green. “There are compelling tales from all over the world and in many ways the web is the one place where all that is collected. It makes total sense that Hollywood has finally come calling and now with YouTube, well I can’t think of a better synergy than putting that on TV.”

Random House had been working with the founders of Twitter on a book deal, but it has apparently fallen short of expectations.
