TONY ROBBINS HAD A REALITY SHOW AND IT’S BEEN CANCELLED
August 7 2010
Los Angeles, CA – Every decade has its own personality and the people that help create that personality. It is through things like music, movies, literature, sports, videogames, and politics that we come to understand and remember eras. Inevitably

for the people that lived through those periods the experience will alter according to what they were exposed to but there are some constants, some incidents and personalities that bridge the experience gap and become things that truly define a period. Tony Robbins was one of those people.
Through the early part of the 1990’s the western world was captured by the idea of self improvement. Infomercials were abound with the promise of personal empowerment and people like Oprah Winfrey pushed the idea with incredible success. At the forefront of that movement was Tony Robbins, a self-made motivational speaker and author who promised spiritual enlightenment and a better life. For millions his pitch seemed true and they bought into his philosophy in droves. Books, videos, and speaking tours sold out across the United States by people who dreamt of a better life. By the second part of the decade however Robbins influence had stumbled and by the start of the 21st
century was non-existent. His erosion from the spotlight seemed almost complete until NBC announced a new reality show starring Robbins only days before it was cancelled and sunk into oblivion before anyone knew it was existed.
“Tony was a little confused by the whole thing but he’s not down on NBC or on himself. I mean that wouldn’t really be Tony. He understands the mechanics of television and he’s very pragmatic. He would certainly have liked to see the show go on but this is the way it is,” said a Robbins insider. “This will in no way dissuade his efforts to change the lives of every single person in America and around the world. This was a great venue to deliver his message but it was not to be.”
‘Breakthrough with Tony Robbins’ was scheduled to air for six episodes but was cancelled after two, which aired in a time slot with no competition.
“Tony Robbins has made all kinds of money and made changes in many people’s lives despite very few people even realizing that he is still around. This is always the case with any celebrity. When you lose the public mindshare for a number of years it’s very difficult to regain it. He had it in the nineties and it went away. This show was an attempt to regain that success but it seems no one was motivated to listen,” said Scrape TV Business analyst Ken Green. “There was a time when he commanded the attention of thousands, when he was on TV every single night but that was a long time ago, a generation ago, and there is no reason to assume that he would be able to recapture that magic.”
Robbins is currently preparing a motivational session in Fiji.
“I’m sure he won’t let it get him down. I mean a normal person would be really upset if they created this TV show and went out and promoted it and no one paid any attention. Most people would look at that as a failure because, well because they failed to to what they were trying to do, but Robbins will likely think about it differently,” continued Green. “Unfortunately for him he’s going to have to rely on his huge speaking fee and the videos on his website and the t-shirts or whatever it is he sells. I guess he’s going to have to rely on his old fans to continue financing his lifestyle.”
NBC officials could apparently care less about the cancellation.
