U.S. PRISON SYSTEM TO REVOLUTIONIZE USE OF RAPID INCARCERATION UNITS
October 21 2010
Washington, D.C. – Richard and Maurice McDonald opened their first restaurant 14th and E street in San Bernardino California it is very unlikely that they could have realized how revolutionary their concept would become. It wasn’t cheap burgers or
thick milkshakes that helped changed the world. In essence, those elements were the carrier for the idea that would eventually come to define not only McDonald’s as a company but also the way in which American culture would conduct itself in the future. By introducing the ‘Speedee Service System’, the brother McDonald would forever change their country and the world.
The success of the company is quickly evident by the glowing golden arches rising up over nearly every city in the United States and many around the world, but it is the fast part of fast food that was the true innovation for the company. Now in an instant and always-on world, the value of speed is even more evident and much of that is due to the innovations made seventy years ago. Nowhere is that more evident than in the United States where speed and efficiency has become nearly religion, something lawmakers are now considering adding to another one of their triumphs, the explosively growing prison system which has once again claimed the top spot throughout the world.
“This is a uniquely American business and we believe we have a uniquely American solution to the ongoing problem of prison over-population. Our vision is to introduce
rapid incarceration units throughout the country, similar to convenience stores or Starbucks, in order to speed up imprisonment and to allow law enforcement a greater number of options when it comes to punishing criminals,” said Dwight Humboldt of SLAM!. “Essentially this system would allow imprisonment at the local level allowing us to safely stow away criminals who would normally be given parole or simple early release due to prison population levels. With this system, no prisoner will be set free simply because the prison in which they are housed has run out of room. Prisons will now literally be on every street corner.”
Initially the smaller prisons will house only a dozen or so inmates but future plans include designs for prison superstores.
“We believe this proposal will be the most innovative and landscape changing effort in penal history. Further, it allows our society to function in a safe and effective way without the fear of criminals stalking our streets without their due justice,” continued Humboldt. “We feel very confident that legislators will see the benefits and great social value to this program and see fit to finance our solution to the great criminal problem that continues to persist in our society. Through this system, our country will be a safer place and a terrific place to raise our children. Now, no criminal will go free for simple lack of space. All men and women will be accountable for their actions.”
The United States recently passed both the Russia and China to top the incarceration rate with one out of every hundred people incarcerated.
“I would have to see details on how this system would work before committing. There is

little doubt that many criminals, some of them dangerous, are let free due to inefficiencies in the system and crowding certainly plays a part in that. However more often this people are freed as a result of jurisdictional issues rather than space ones,” said Scrape TV Legal analyst Gabe Hawthorne. “One has to think that this is less about protecting the public and more about increasing profit margins. Prisons are a viable business in the United States and introducing this time of system will, undoubtedly, offer an increase in revenue which is nothing but good for the people behind it. Behind the building of the prisons that is, not the people behind the bars.”
Arkansas is reportedly considering implementing the program with or without federal approval.
