EVERYDAY IS FRIDAY FOR REBECCA BLACK AFTER SHE QUITS SCHOOL
August 11 2011
Los Angeles, CA – Most people assumed, quite sensibly, that Rebecca Black was going to be a one-hit wonder. When the 13-year old aspiring singer burst onto the scene earlier this year it was clear to most people that her success was a fluke and a
bit of a joke. Well, it was obvious to the public anyway, not so much the singer herself or the people behind her.
After all, that type of viral success is really a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, one that very people have get, and so it made sense to try and exploit it as much as possible. That is exactly what Black, her handlers, and her record company have been trying to do since the ridiculous success of ‘Friday’, and now they have made sure they are making the most of the opportunity.
To that end, Black has already established her own record company, begun planning for her next record, and pulled out of school to focus on her career. While the latter move may seem presumptuous, even reckless, the Black camp feels it is the best opportunity to continue her growth as an artist and as a recording star.
“Rebecca was pulled from school because of harassment, but that was really only the impetus. Everyone believed that school was only restricting her, only keeping her from

doing the things she needs to do to make her career work and that was the real reason,” said an insider. “They all feel, including Rebecca herself, that she will learn far more from being out there on the road then she will in school. No one needs American history or civics in the real world. She’s learned as much as she’s going to learn from school and now it’s time to take on the world.”
Black turned 14 in June.
“She’s still going to take lessons, at home, but this formalized environment really isn’t working for her or for her career anymore. She’s moved beyond school and there’s no sense pretending anymore,” continued the insider. “Becks really feels that her best opportunities lay ahead of her and that sitting in a classroom isn’t going to further her life. Maybe if they offered recording classes, but it’s too late for that now. She has moved on.”
Black’s most recent video was also a major viral success. She was apparently the only person in her Jr. High class with more than twenty million views on YouTube.
“It’s an interesting and bold move but there is no guarantee that she will have any more success than she has already had. Success in this business can be very fleeting and it is possible, as unlikely as it seems now, that she won’t be able to sustain the momentum she has built up over the last few months. That’s where school will come in handy,” said Scrape TV Music analyst Dylan Chambers. “Lots of other musical acts have ditched school in favour of their careers and so it isn’t without precedence, but it isn’t without risk and a good deal of talent is required to make it successful. I mean, well at least she’s confident.”
Black apparently burned all her old school clothes and won’t speak to any of her old friends.
