MOBY FINALLY ABLE TO CELEBRATE 9/11 BIRTHDAY AFTER TEN YEARS
September 11 2011
Los Angeles, CA – The attacks of September 11th are moments which will likely live in the memory of America for a very long time to come. Eventually the pain of that day will fade, a chapter in a history book and then eventually just an incident people try to recall the details of to seem clever at parties. For the people of today though, for people who lived through it, it is much more than that.
For America as a whole it is a major scar, a still vibrant attack on their way of life. The pain and suffering those people feel, though, is only second and third hand. There are people who lost tangible things in that attack, particularly friends and family members. For those people the legacy of the event is much different, and the celebration genuinely solemn.
However, amidst all the tears and the celebration of those who were lost, amidst all the war and horror that has occurred in the last decade, there has been a group of people lost to the moment, something that may have finally ended with the tenth anniversary. Finally, September 11th babies, like musician Moby, feel they can have their birthdays back again and are taking full advantage of the day.
“Well, it’s weird ‘cause I was born in New York and I grew up in New York and I lived I guess a mile and half away from the former Twin Towers,” Moby told TMZ. “Honestly the first couple years after September 11th I felt like I couldn’t celebrate my birthday on September 11th but now it’s been ten years and a lot of New Yorkers, I think we
grieved for a while, but it happened a while ago. So I think we've sort of left the grieving behind.”
Moby was born in 1965, many years before the events. He will apparently be having a big party on the left coast this year.
“Birthdays are a person’s special day, and even though thousands of people share the birthday, it still is personal and special to most people. Unfortunately, a lot of people had that stolen from them back in 2001, taken away from them just like all those people had their loved ones stolen from them. Hopefully now, after this many years, they can finally take it back and have some kind of peace just like all those people who lost loved ones,” said Scrape TV American analyst Dave Davidson. “Moby is just one of many people who have not been able to celebrate their birthdays as they should have done, hopefully they all find peace now.”
Other celebrities also celebrating a birthday today are Harry Connick Jr., director Brian De Palma, and Ludacris. It’s not clear what their plans are for the big day.
“Moby, I mean I’m glad for him. Maybe this ten year anniversary will also help him come forward in his career. He’s more or less put it on hold, I assume, for the last decade so maybe this will help him resurrect that as well, at least we can only hope,” continued Davidson. “This is really a great day, a day of peace and comfort for so many people. It’s really great that Moby will be able to join them and finally take his special day back.”
Moby will apparently indulge himself with a meal of zesty tofu before going to the gates of Eminem’s house and yelling really loudly.
