NEW SUPERMAN MOVIE TO EXPLORE HIS ILLEGAL ALIEN ROOTS

August 4 2011

Chicago, IL – Superman is the hero to end all heroes. He is the perfect example of the things we aspire to be, he is the modern Hercules, a God amongst men. He has all the powers and all the traits we wish we could have. He is good and decent and always tries to do the right thing, something which cannot be said for most of us mortals.superman

That, in part, explains the enduring appeal of the Superman character now nearly eighty years old. He has spanned generations, crossed borders, and become the standard by which all superheroes are made. Soon the world will see the Man of Steel on film screens again, soaring through the sky and defending humanity against evil, though with the influence of ‘Dark Knight’ director Christopher Nolan, the new version of Supes promises to be a little different.

Much has been written about the new, dark direction that the Man of Steel will be taking in the new film, due for release in 2013, but now that filming has begun, specific details have started to emerge. Chief amongst those specifics is the famous origin story of Superman, an origin story that will apparently address his immigration status and what that means.

“It’s not a major part of the story, that would be a little dull, but it does play a role. The filmmakers started to wonder how this simple farming couple figured out how to create an identity for Clark Kent. He had no birth certificate, no parents so how did he baby clark kent
get a job? Obviously they had to have connections to get him ID,” said a production insider. “I mean he’s obviously illegal but he is accepted into society with no real issue and that is something they want to explore. It’s really a parallel to the modern world.”

Superman was sent from the dying planet of Krypton to Earth in a special spacecraft as a child. He wasn’t set up with any ID in the comics or films.

“Jor-El sent him to Earth to help and just assumed that he would be accepted, but that is very naive. That just isn’t the way the world works, not in the thirties and certainly not today. This is a real world Superman and so that will be addressed,” continued the insider. “It won’t be necessary for Superman himself, only for Clark. People I guess just assume that Superman is a registered alien even if he can’t prove where he came from. The whole Clark thing though, that will be addressed.”

It’s believed the Krypton will be destroyed in the film, likely destroying all birth records alongside its explosion.

“This is sounding more and more like a really exciting project, very Batman-ish and illegal alien
that is a good thing. The film versions of Superman haven’t been all that great and so there is sensible trepidation with this new project but it seems that they are grounding it in reality, well in as much reality as one can have with aliens from space fighting on Earth,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “I hope they don’t delve too deeply into the illegal alien thing. You don’t want to sully Superman with that kind of thing, to make him seem too unseemly. Hopefully they go about getting his citizenship properly rather than through some sleazy agent. That wouldn’t really be Superman and just a little too dark.”

General Zod, the main villain of the new film and who also hails from Krypton, likely won’t be bothering with ID.
