STUNT GOES WRONG KILLING JACKASS STAR RYAN DUNN

West Goshen Township, PA – For the better part of a decade the cast and crew of ‘Jackass’ have been bringing stupidity to the masses. Part slapstick, part vaudeville, the show became an instant hit when it first appeared on MTV in 2000. Eventually the
stupidity would make stars of many of the cast members and firmly implant them in the collective comedy history of the United States, on par with legends such as the ‘The Three Stooges’, ‘The Marx Brothers’, and Mel Brooks.
That legend was further cemented this past fall when the latest movie, the third, exploded onto theatre screens across the world. The movie became a massive hit, drawing numbers usually reserved for high budget studio tentpoles, showing that the ‘Jackass’ boys had not only made their way into the mainstream, but had also come to define modern comedy for more than just their generation. Eventually those high-flying and dangerous days were going to have to come to end. The type of physical abuse the group committed on one another was one thing a decade ago, but as they aged inevitably the pain was going to catch up. They still tried however, upping the ante and pushing the limits of what could, and should, be done. Now it appears they may have pushed too far with the death of Ryan Dunn, the dishevelled whipping boy who died in a fiery car crash after pushing a real life stunt a little too far.
“I can confirm that two individuals were involved in a fatal car collision early Sunday 
morning. The driver of the vehicle has been identified as television and film star Ryan Dunn. A passenger in the vehicle has been indentified but we will not reveal his identity until family is notified ,” said a spokesperson for the West Goshen police department. “It appears that speed was a factor in the crash. Our early investigation suggests that the vehicle may have been travelling upwards of 110 miles per hour. Both persons in the vehicle were deceased upon the arrival of emergency personnel.”
Dunn, 34, had tweeted a picture of himself drinking earlier in the night. MTV made a statement about the death and confirmed that their cameras were not in the area at the time of the crash.
“I think it’s hard for older generations to really understand ‘Jackass’ and the impact it has had. I think most people would rather just dismiss it as kids being silly, but for millions of people it really is the pinnacle of comedy,” said Scrape TV Humour analyst Doug Cutter. “They did things that no one had ever done before and kept upping the ante every time they went out. They were truly in the best tradition of slapstick comedy and they were really, really funny at times. Eventually it was going to have to end of course, but I don’t think many people thought it would go like this. I mean Steve-O is still alive.”
Dunn became most famous for a stunt in the first ‘Jackass’ movie where he placed a toy car up his rectum.
“Frankly, this may well be the end of the whole project. He was never the star of the
show but he was loved by a lot of people. He could be replaced but one has to wonder if, given the tragedy and the age of the performers, that maybe it’s just time to hang it up,” continued Cutter. “It will be a different matter entirely if this was a stunt gone wrong. I’m sure that if that proves to be the case MTV will be in a lot of trouble and that will most certainly mean an end to the show. They pushed things far before, but actually killing a cast member in a fiery wreck is something else entirely. Of course, it could be that we just don’t get how the gag is going to play out. ‘Jackass’ tends to do that.”
Bam Margera’s mother confirmed the death. MTV officials were mysteriously absent from the area.
