WILLING TO SHAVE, ROBIN WILLIAMS WAS STILL REJECTED FOR RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

August 4 2011

San Francisco, CA – For the better part of three decades Robin Williams has been one of the most popular performers in the world. His manic comedy stylings, mixed with his ability to be earnest and honest, have earned him legions of fans across the robin williams
globe. Like many performers though, Williams has moved beyond his heights, moved into far less delirious success than he enjoyed in the past. Still, partially because of the affection so many people still hold for him, it likely wouldn’t take much to once again vault him to the centre of attention once again.

Of course being the centre of attention is exactly what has made Williams such a success. His stream-of-consciousness comedy style catapulted him to the top of the heap in the competitive world of stand up comedy in the late 1970’s, and setting a standard for future performers, that in turn launched him as a television star.

Tremendous success in film followed shortly thereafter, securing his place in people’s hearts forever. Things have certainly been much quieter in recent years, due no doubt to Williams’ own desire to take some time off. Unfortunately though time off in Hollywood, even short periods, can cause serious problems for continued success, something Williams found out the hard way after being rejected for a lead role in the upcoming ‘Planet of the Apes’ prequel for which he even offered to shave his entire body.rise of the planet of the apes

“Many people know that Robin is a bit of a nerd and that means of course that he is a big fan of the Planet of the Apes movies. He’s been a fan since the first movie which he saw in his teens and it hasn’t really waned since he’s aged,” said a Williams. “He pushed hard to be in the new movie, it would really have been a big thing for him. It even filmed in San Fran! Unfortunately despite his offers and efforts the producers did indeed decide not to include him in the project. It isn’t the first movie he’s lost out on, but one of the more painful.”

It’s not clear which role Williams lobbied to play, but it’s believed it was not one of the human roles.

“He was very disappointed when they decided to go with computer generated apes rather than practical ones. He really felt that he was built for that role, for one of those roles, but when they decided to go with that design it was pretty much the end,” continued the spokesperson. “They assured us this had nothing to do with Robin himself. They were also very flattered that he was willing to trim his hair a quite bit to fit into the role, but they just simply decided to go another way. He understands that, but sometimes it’s still very hard when you lose out on a dream project.”robin williams hairy

Williams was also rejected for a role in the 2001 remake in part because he had been unwilling to shave.

“Robin selects his movies very, very carefully. The experience with the last movie taught him a lot of lessons, and he decided to commit himself fully to this project. He was willing to do just about anything to make this thing work, but it just didn’t happen. He hasn’t let that get him down, and he will be first in line when the movie comes out,” continued the spokesperson. “He has also made himself available for a potential sequel, telling the producers that the door it totally open and he has actually already started to trim himself down just in case the movie gets made in a few years. It takes him a little while of course.”

Williams has reportedly ordered a special set of razors from Japan.
