BILL MURRAY REJECTS LATEST GHOSTBUSTERS SCRIPT BUT ERNIE HUDSON IS IN

Los Angeles, CA – Every now and then stories of dream movies start to run around. Projects that excite fanboys but are either just flights of fancy or genuine efforts that for one reason or another just never seem to gel together. For years, the big dog in that realm as been ‘Ghostbusters III’.
For the better part of a decade some of the principles behind the Ghostbusters franchise have been trying to mount a sequel, to little success. In particular, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis have been the driving forces behind the project, even recruiting the majority of the other major players back into the fold, with one notable and potentially deal-breaking exception, Bill Murray.
Murray, who has had a very successful run in diverse roles over the last decade, has been the one major obstacle to getting the film made. Fans don’t want a movie without him and consequently neither does the studio. Now it appears that the door has been slammed shut for good after Murray finally read through the latest script and, instead of signing on, ran it through a shredder and sent the remains to the production offices, seemingly putting an end to the project forever and any chance of Ernie Hudson getting a respectable paycheque ever again.
“It’s pretty much over. The new script was good, everyone liked it and they spent a lot of money getting it done but Murray just doesn’t want to be in another movie. He 
likes the guys but he just doesn’t want to do another film no matter how good the script is or isn’t,” said an insider close to the production. “That was pretty evident when the shredded script showed up. I mean it’s next to impossible to work from a script in that shape which made it clear to everyone that it just wasn’t going to happen with him, and so the project either moves forward without him or not at all.”
It is believed that the movie will simply not happen without Murray who is still the biggest star from that group.
Ernie Hudson, who played Winston Zeddemore in the previous two films, is eager to get involved but does not have the wherewithal to push the movie into production.
“We still want to make it but the studio is really nervous without Murray. They are really concerned about the fan reaction and the fans are really going to be the decision maker. It’s really disappointing for everyone, but at least they will all be alright financially. Well, maybe not Ernie, but everyone else,” continued the insider. “It was really easy to get him on board, frankly. Ernie has been calling the office a couple of times a day for the last few years looking for updates. We get nervous when he doesn’t call at his regular time, but he always makes up for it. He didn’t even ask to see the script, though he never really does when it comes to making movies.”
Fellow co-star Rick Moranis, who has been retired for a number of years, will likely not be in the sequel either.
“Ideally we would have everyone back and this new, young cast but Murray is really the obstacle. It’s upsetting because a lot of people want to get it made. Almost everyone else, especially Ernie, we could make it without but without Murray it’s going to be really tough. We could make it without Ernie, though we wouldn’t really want to. We like him,” continued the insider. “Hopefully we can still get it made, for the fans and for Ernie. We’d like him to get work that suits him better so hopefully, if for no other reason, Murray will do it for Ernie. That would be really nice.”
Murray has reportedly not spoken with Ernie Hudson since production on the last movie ended. It’s not clear if that is part of the reason for his resistance.
