MEL GIBSON RESISTS PUNCHING HIS EX-WIFE IN THE FACE AFTER SHE TAKES HALF HIS FORTUNE

Los Angeles, CA – Divorce is never easy, and it is much, much harder when you are wealthy. Aside from the emotional trauma of a split, the wealthy have a lot more to lose in a divorce, which only adds to the headache and heartache.
In some ways the wealthy are lucky. While they may lose a lot more money than normal people, they still likely have a lot in their bank accounts to keep them afloat. For those types of people, though, the extremely wealthy money is a major part of their persona and when it is lost, a big chunk of who they are is also removed, something Mel Gibson is now finding out the hard way.
Gibson has of course had a rough few years and now, just two days before Christmas, he is a much poorer man having finalized his divorce with Robyn Gibson, losing half of his estimated $850 million fortune in the process. Gibson, though, apparently took the split of his fortune well, resisting many opportunities to punch his ex-wife in the face and call her nasty names during the process.
“Mel has been very calm throughout the process. They spent a lot of time together and have a lot of kids and so he wanted it to go peacefully. This isn’t someone he 
accidentally knocked up and so really hasn’t felt the need to knock her around or threaten her into performing sex acts on him. It’s a totally different situation,” said an insider close to both sides. “He isn’t happy, this is not a happy time for him, and he doesn’t want to lose all that money, but he has still remained civil and kept his fists to himself throughout the process.”
The couple was married for 28 years, have seven children, and six grandchildren.
It’s not clear if Gibson punched anyone else in the face in an effort to take out is frustrations, though he is rumoured to have hired a person specifically for that purpose.
“Sure, Mel has thought about punching Robyn in the face a bunch of times. They were married for a long time, that happens. He never did though. He put lots of holes in walls for sure but luckily he has do much money that wasn’t really an issue and walls tend not to talk to the media,” continued the insider. “He doesn’t like having lost all that money but despite Robyn’s insistence on taking all that from him, he still really doesn’t have the desire to punch her in the face. Maybe an accidental elbow or two, but no fists, not even once.”
Robyn will also receive half of all future earnings on any projects Gibson worked on during their marriage, including the lucrative ‘Lethal Weapon’ series.
“Mel’s fists, frankly, are a little worn out anyways. Even if he wanted to punch Robyn in the face, he probably wouldn’t have. I mean he could have, he could have taken the pain if he felt she deserved it, but there is still something residual there that prevented him,” continued the insider. “It wasn’t the family or even the press, it was Robyn herself. He just didn’t want to punch her in the face. That may change over time but right now he’s just not interested in knocking her out.”
Robyn reportedly has a steel jaw, which may be part of the reason Gibson retains such respect for her.
