POLANSKI TO TEST THE SWISS AGAIN WITH RETURN TO ZURICH FILM FESTIVAL

Zurich, Switzerland – It’s a shame, for cinephiles, that Roman Polanski’s personal indiscretions have caused so much damage to his career and his art. Few would argue against Polanski being called one of the greatest filmmakers in history, arguably in the top ten, but his reputation and his art will always be overshadowed and impacted by his real life.
He is, of course, not the first artist to have his personal affairs damage his public persona or creative output. In fact, some of the most potent artistic minds, from Van Gogh to Hemingway to Michael Jackson, have had their art damaged or even destroyed by their personal idiosyncrasies. Polanski is just one more in that long line.
Even if he has never served prison time for his incident, Polanski has no doubt suffered for his actions. He has successfully avoided to law, more or less, for nearly forty years but now he will test the resolve of police and law enforcement, returning to the one place that dared arrest him two years ago, challenging the Swiss to yet another duel of the wills.
“Yes, Roman will return to the Zurich Film Festival. He is very proud of his new film and he would very much like to see it screen at this festival and he is thrilled that they have decided to honour him with this Lifetime achievement award,” said a spokesperson for the director. “Roman has of course spent a great deal of time in Zurich and despite what most people may assume he does love the city a great deal. It is a beautiful place and he is thrilled to return for the festival.”
Polanski has apparently been told by authorities that they will not seek arrest again, but the director sought no such assurances. In fact, insiders indicate that the director has been calling Zurich police officials and taunting them over the last few days.
“Roman is scared of no man and no authority. He saw what they were made of the last time around and because of that they do not scare him, not even a little bit. Yes,
his detainment was annoying, but her served it in a chalet. There are worse things 
that can happen. He does not fear them at all,” said a Polanski insider. “In fact, not only has he been leaving messages he has also arranged a for a local elementary school to come to the screening of his new movie and hang out at the after party. All the children will be there and the police, well that is up to them now.”
Polanski will reportedly arrive a few days ahead of the September 27th ceremony and make visits to the schools where the children of police officers attend.
“Roman does not fear the Swiss, nor anyone. He has seen what the Swiss police are made of and he does not fear them. There are things he does fear in life, but he has never said, and never will say, that it is the Swiss,” continued the insider. “He has lived with many things in his life, but fearing the Swiss is not and never will be one of them. He challenges them, outright, to even try.”
Swiss police officials had no comment on the director’s challenge.
