FANS WAITING FOR MICHAEL JACKSON TO DIE IN ORDER TO HEAR NEW MUSIC
March 25 2009
Santa Barbara, CA – It’s been a long time since Michael Jackson has released any new music. It’s been even longer since he released new music that people were interested in hearing. Now it appears that his lack of production hasn’t been a product of laziness but rather of secrecy. According to his biographer Ian Halperin, Jackson has recorded more than 100 songs but none of them will be released until after his death, a gift to his children. The declaration has prompted a new desire to see the ‘King of Pop’ dead, though for entirely selfish reasons.
Jackson’s last album, 2001’s ‘Invincible’ was released to tepid reviews and even more tepid sales and many felt that the failure of that album had scared Jackson from the recording studio. The revelation by Halperin, who has also been spreading the idea that Jackson may be seriously ill, has reminded people of, though not inspired, the rabid speculation and furor that once accompanied news about the pop star.
“Jackson has lived quite the life to say the least but in recent years it has really just been more of the same. Controversy and weirdness but that only goes so far in maintaining your celebrity. The reality is the bar for celebrity crazy has been raised in
the 21st century and much like his music, Jackson just hasn’t been able to keep pace,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “Chimps, hyperbaric chambers, massive plastic surgery, even child molestation, those things are so passé now and Jackson just hasn’t realized that. I’m sure he thinks people are still falling all over themselves to read about him but that’s just not the case. Much like with his music, he was a genius but he peaked.”
Jackson is credited with almost singlehandedly keeping the tabloid newspapers afloat through the 1980’s and 1990’s but with the advent of web journalism many of the pop singers antics have fallen by the wayside, with the possible exception of dangling his infant son off a two storey balcony.
“The web age demands a whole new level of crazy. Celebrities in generally are almost an antiquated lunacy because of the access people have to real people doing stupid things. At one time we had to rely on famous people or crazy relatives to laugh at but now we have the world,” continued Temple. “Jackson was borne through that world and things have changed profoundly. These recent stories about him being near death and having a massive backlog of songs really aren’t going to do it for him. Really the best thing for his career at this point would be his death.”
Rumours of lung ailments and various diseases afflicting the singer have been rolling around the web for months though none have proven true. The singer also recently sold out 50 dates in London, further evidence that the talk of is impending demise have been exaggerated. None of his secretly recorded songs are expected to be a part of the set list due to the fact that he will in fact be alive for the concerts.
“Jackson still has millions of fans around the world but there are very few of them that are really interested in hearing new music from him. They want to hear the classics and that’s what they are paying for. Say what you want about the man, he did still make ‘Thriller’,” continued Temple. “That said it will be interesting to hear what it is he has secretly recorded and why exactly he’s keeping it a secret. He’s out of money, has sold his house, what possible motivation could he have to keep this material a secret other than the fear that it really isn’t very good. I don’t know why he’s holding off on releasing that though considering the quality of his output over the last 20 years. He really can’t make it much worse.”
Jackson has denied suffering major health problems or being near death, disappointing many.
