TYLER PERRY DRESSES AS MADEA FOR ACTUAL FAMILY REUNION

Atlanta, GA – Tyler Perry has been nothing but a phenomenon over the last few years. The screenwriter/playwright/director/producer as built an empire not only unheard of for a Black performer, but unheard of in the History of Hollywood. His series of ‘Madea’ films, in which Perry himself plays the eponymous character has made Perry one of the wealthiest independent movie producers ever. With the recent successful release of ‘Madea goes to Jail’ Perry has further cemented himself as a premiere box office power, as well as a shining example to drag queen everywhere.
Just a bit player in Perry’s first film ‘Diary of a Mad Black Woman’ the character of ‘Madea’ has turned into a full-fledged star with this latest outing. The bespectacled loudmouth matriarch has quickly become one of the most enduring characters put on screen and has been the driving force behind Perry’s massive success. Now though, like Jim Varney and Paul Reubens before him, Perry has become completely defined the character and if reports are true, been completely consumed by the fictional persona.
“With his own production company and millions and millions of dollars built on the success of one character in particular it would be strange if Perry didn’t have a great deal of affection for the character of Madea. He does seem to be content with the idea that this character is going to
be how his career is going to be defined but it may be that’s he’s going a little far with
it,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “Typecasting is obviously quite common in Hollywood but it’s rare that a character becomes so ubiquitous that people actually begin to believe it’s a real person. Jim Varney had the ‘Ernest’ character and Paul Reubens had ‘Pee-Wee Herman’ but as far as I know neither of them began to act out their characters in their personal lives, which is apparently what is happening with Perry.”
Perry reportedly appeared at a family reunion over the weekend dressed as the matronly character and stayed in character throughout the reunion. Family members were apparently pleasantly surprised at the initial appearance of the character but disturbed by Perry’s unwillingness to break character throughout the reunion.
“From what we’ve heard there was a lot of excitement initially but that quickly diminished when Perry continued to argue with everyone,
threatened to punch family members in the face, and pulled a gun from his purse and waved it around,” continued Temple. “I don’t recall similar tales of Paul Reubens living with talking furniture or Jim Varney being a totally inept handyman. Tyler Perry has obviously had incredible success with his particular alter ego and has also apparently sunk to
equally incredible depths of absorption in said character. His handlers should probably look into getting him some help but unfortunately, as is most often the case in Hollywood, people simply swab the deck as the ship goes down.”
Perry will next be seen in the revamped ‘Star Trek’ movie, reportedly out of drag. He will again appear as the ‘Madea’ character in next year’s ‘Madea’s Class Reunion’.
“It’s funny that he is appearing in a Star Trek movie. There has never been another group of actors so profoundly burdened by typecasting as the Star Trek actors have been. Being in that environment is not really a healthy place for someone who is obviously at least on the road to serious
mental disturbance,” continued Temple. “Another concern is how he is going to be running his companies and directing movies. ‘Madea’ isn’t exactly the type of person that you want in charge of things. She is herself a little unstable to say the least. I imagine there will be a lot of drama coming from the set of the new movie.”
So far there have been no reports of issues concerning the latest ‘Madea’ movie though these reports may make investors and insurers nervous.
“Most people don’t realize that every performer that appears in a movie needs to be insured. Quite often actors are unemployable because of risky behaviour or history of alcohol and drug abuse for that reason. In this case it appears that Perry is suffering some kind of mental break, possibly schizophrenia, and that could threaten the future of the
franchise,” continued Temple. “That says nothing of course for the impact this will have on his personal life unless he is planning on fully embracing the cross dressing sub culture. He should probably leave the gun at home if that’s going to be the case though.”
Lions Gate, distributor of the ‘Madea’ films, has reportedly contracted a psychiatric assessment for the actor after the incident. Paul Reubens apparently has also placed a call to his fellow performer though it’s not clear what kind of advice he offered, nor if it was to the tune of ‘Tequila’.
