BRITTANY MURPHY'S FAMILY WILL NOT DONATE HER BRAIN TO SCIENCE
December 20 2009
Los Angeles, CA – The history of Hollywood is littered with the deaths of young and viable stars. James Dean, River Phoenix, Marilyn Monroe, and Heath Ledger are just a handful of the many names that have passed well before their time. Now a new name

can be added to that that list, Brittany Murphy who passed away early Sunday morning of an apparent heart attack at the age of 32.
Murphy, the star of such films as ‘Sin City’, ‘Clueless’, and ‘8 Mile’ was apparently discovered by her husband Simon Monjack who was unable to revive her. Murphy was then rushed to hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. While her death continues to set the internet afire, the tragedy of her young life is just starting to be felt by her friends and family as well as the rest of the Hollywood community. Murphy was not of course as well known or as regarded as her peers and reportedly had a significant drug problem, both of which may have contributed to her death, but it is not those things that are concerning her loved ones. They are now focused on their grief and taking care of her remains which according to insiders will be dealt with traditionally despite her desire to donate her brain to science.
“Brit tried numerous times to have certain parts of her body donated to science but she was rejected pretty much every time. She was a big believer in the sciences and wanted to contribute something after her death but no one was interested in the parts she was looking to donate, specifically her brain,” said a family insider who preferred to remain anonymous. “She knew that her lifestyle wouldn’t have allowed her organs to be donated for transplant and because she is well known she didn’t want to her body being donated, but she felt that her brain, the brain of an artist, would be appealing to someone but every time she tried they turned her down. That was one of the biggest disappointments of her life but that is the way it goes sometimes. We’ll take care of her though.”
Despite her success in film Murphy was really only well known for her perky demeanour and her looks, both of which rapidly disappear upon death.
“I mean no one is going to really compare this death to James Dean or Heath Ledger in any way. She had a much more robust filmography than either of them but even though they had done limited work pretty much all of it was well regarded. The same can’t really be said for her. She did well and all but really ‘Sin City’ was her only well liked movie and she was just a player in that, not the star,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “Nonetheless she was generally well liked and was nice to most people so her loss will be felt by a lot of people. Apparently though it won’t be felt by the medical community. I’m sure that’s not an indictment on her intelligence though, just that they have a lot of brains hanging around.”
Murphy had reportedly confided to friends that she felt relieved to not be blessed with a ‘thinking-type of brain’ which allowed her to have a great deal of success in movies.
“I mean from everything I’ve ever heard about organ donation the parts you give in have to be well taken care of. They won’t take livers from alcoholics for example, or lungs from smokers, and likely the same rules apply to brains,” continued Temple. “Her heart was good, well at least up until a few hours ago at least, but medicine can’t just take an old body parts and use them. They have to be judicious or they will just be left with a bunch of unusable junk lying around.”
Murphy leaves behind her husband of two years, her mother.
