NEWARK BOUND PASSENGERS SPARED TRIP WITH JOAN RIVERS

January 5 2009

Los Angeles, CA – With gap-minded celebrity interviews, out-of-touch jokes, a noose of a daughter around her neck, and more plastic than Rubbermaid it’s difficult for anyone born after 1970 to understand just how groundbreaking Joan River’s once young joan rivers
was. Known for acerbic wit and one of the most daring acts for a woman of the time, Rivers’ work as a stand-up broke ground for modern day comediennes such as Kathy Griffin and Sarah Silverman. Her influence went beyond comedy as well, helping to forge new ground in television alongside fellow stars such as Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Carol Burnett, and Bill Cosby.

Of course things have changed and so has Rivers. Almost a mockery of her former self, Rivers has come to be regarded as a harpy of celebrity culture with her trademark wit replaced by shrieking nastiness and an inability to even remember the names of celebrities born in the last thirty years. Of course most people only know Rivers for that persona now and would rather have nothing to do with it and her in all her glory. Luckily a flight full of passengers destined to return home from Costa Rica were spared the indignity of spending a few hours with Rivers after airport security declined her entry onto a flight because of a suspicious passport.joan rivers

“I was 20 minutes late... big deal. The woman was having none of it. It takes on horrible person to do something stupid. The funny part is that people were asking for autographs and taking pictures,” said Rovers to Good Day New York. “If I were going to make up an alias, I wouldn't pick Rosenberg. I'd pick Jolie or Pitt. Do terrorists wear Manolo Blahniks? I can tell you Donna Karan does not make anything that hides a bomb. I tried the tears; they didn't work. I tried reasoning. I couldn't bribe because I didn't have any money. I said 'I'm going to have a heart attack over this,' so the woman called the paramedics.”

Rivers was ferried to the capital, San Jose, for another flight. It’s not clear what happened to her driver after the six and half hour drive alongside the 76-year old.joan rivers

“It’s very difficult for people to picture Joan Rivers as anything other than what she is right now which frankly is a little repellent not just for celebrities but for other people as well. I’m sure many of the people would have been more than happy to take a picture with her or grab and autograph but actually having to spend time with her is a totally different thing,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “A flight from Costa Rica to Newark is at least three hours which would have been just hell for those poor people. Luckily circumstances, or at least a smart security guard, saved them from that fate. I’m sure she’s getting a lot of thank you cards.”

The security agent was reportedly confused by River’s having her legal last name on the passport rather than her stage name.joan rivers

“I’m very curious to find out what happened to the guy who drove her to San Jose though. I can’t watch Rivers on television for more than two minutes and he had to spend six hours in a car with her. Hopefully he will recover if he hasn’t already done something stupid to himself,” continued Temple. “That security agent is the real hero though. With all the talk about airport security and the risks that are apparently everywhere it’s heartening to know that at least someone out there is doing their job properly and protecting passengers.”

Reportedly one passenger on the plane that Rivers did eventually catch also happened to miss her flight on the ill fated flight that slammed into the Pentagon. She apparently lamented not being able to dodge the bullet the second time.
