REPORTS INDICATE THAT CHARLIE SHEEN HAD PLATOON FLASHBACK

Aspen, CO – Vietnam has long been a major scar on the psyche of the American mind. The misery of that conflict and those who fought and died in it has only been matched by the recriminations over the war. Often cited as the greatest example of 
gross abuse of military over a sovereign nation, almost forty years after the end of the war it is still a source of embarrassment and shame for many in the country. Perhaps it was the humiliating defeat the greatest military force ever assembled endured; perhaps it is the horror of innocent civilians being butchered. Whatever the reason the war in Vietnam is a source of shame for many in the country.
Much the same can be said about the career of Charlie Sheen, the son of a regarded and respected actor who began a very promising career with a series of successful and critically acclaimed films but quickly descended into the worst Hollywood has to offer. Drug abuse, poor script choices, and indulgence in celebrity have all conspired to turn the dream of Sheen’s early promise into a Tinsel Town nightmare of legendary proportions, a nightmare that never seems to end. With Sheen’s latest arrest – a domestic abuse incident with his wife – it appears that Sheen’s bad behaviour has returned but if reports are to be believed the actor may in fact be suffering from severe emotional trauma endured from his time spent on the set of a Vietnam war movie.
“The whole incident is incredibly embarrassing for Charlie and for Brooke, as well as their families. Obviously there is the bad press and the gossip that is building around the incident but what’s really embarrassing is the revelations about Charlie’s mental and emotional state,” said an anonymous insider. “Charlie had another flashback from his time performing in ‘Platoon’, something that has been happening for many years and likely caused most of the bad behaviour he has become known for. Charlie and his family have known about this for years but this is one of the worst incidents yet. Hopefully when this gets out he will finally seek the help he has needed for years.”
In the film, which was one of Sheen’s breakout roles, he plays the role of Chris, privileged middle class kid who volunteers for service in the war only to find the horrors of the conflict too much to bear.
“Charlie and Chris were right around the same age and being a method actor he threw himself into the role. Because of the weight of what he was performing it weighed heavily on him and he has never been able to shake it and it has caused all kinds of problems for him,” continued our insider. “Charlie really wants to break this cycle and move on with his life and his marriage to Brooke was supposed to be that but unfortunately he has never dealt with the underlying issues that cause the problems so in essence he was just putting a band aid on the situation. Hopefully he will finally resolve it after this incident.”
Sheen reportedly also lost a significant amount of money in last year’s economic collapse, a remnant of his other hit film ‘Wall Street’.
“Unfortunately some people are just unable to let things go. Some people just play off things, they endure and move on almost as quickly but for others things stay, they sustain and fester and become deep wounds and those are the kinds of people that need serious help,” said Scrape TV Psychology analyst Dr. Sarah Welp. “Small incidents can become massive in some people’s minds, big incidents cause major issues and apparently that is what has happened with Sheen. Outsider may look at it and brush it off as just ‘being a movie’ but for Sheen it was much more than that and he needs to deal with those issues before something really tragic happens.”
Oliver Stone, director of both ‘Platoon’ and ‘Wall Street’, has reportedly already reached out to Sheen to no avail. His father, Martin Sheen, himself a Vietnam War movie survivor has been at his side since his son’s arrest.
