RUSH LIMBAUGH STILL ALIVE; 2010 STILL FREE OF CELEBRITY DEATHS
January 2 2010
Honolulu, HI – For Rush Limbaugh the New Year almost wasn’t, or so he thought. The conservative talk show host was rushed to hospital while vacationing in Hawaii earlier this week after feeling severe chest pain which he feared might have been a
heart attack. It wasn’t a heart problem, in fact doctors aren’t sure exactly what did cause his pain, but whatever the reason Limbaugh was certainly happy to not follow in the footsteps of many of his fellow celebrities from 2009.
With record number of deaths in 2009 many feared that Limbaugh’s hospitalization would have been the capper, a fact that many lamented and just as many anticipated. Released early on January 1, Limbaugh is expected to return undaunted from his Hawaiian adventure to his radio show and his fourteen million weekly listeners. Limbaugh of course is a controversial figure in the American political realm with controversy after controversy simply extending his fame
and influence, much like fellow celebrity Michael Jackson who didn’t survive his heart problems in 2009. While many will undoubtedly be happy to hear that Limbaugh is happy and healthy, many more had hoped he would in fact succumb to some type of ailment and surprisingly most of those asked had no opinion on Limbaugh’s policies, they simply wanted another celebrity death.
“As sad as some of these deaths are they bring people together in a strange way and

2009 was a banner year. The death of any person is of course sad and traumatic for friends and family but ordinary people connect to the demise of a famous person in a strange way. In a year that saw so much turmoil abroad and domestically, these celebrity deaths were exactly what the country needed,” said Scrape TV Psychology analyst Dr. Sarah Welp. “While many people would have hoped Limbaugh dead for all kinds of reasons, many of which certainly legitimate, much of the reason can be tied to the almost addictive quality that these deaths create. Misery loves company, there’s truth in that, and one more death in the final days of the year would have just been perfect.”
At 58, overweight, a smoker, and with a history of drug abuse Limbaugh is considered a prime candidate for a heart attack, and may in fact still suffer one in the near future.
“I suppose it’s best to save some celebrities for the New Year. Especially over the
summer, people just grew used to death and had started to embrace it in a strange way. It’s very difficult coming down from that high. Smaller deaths like George Michael and Brittany Murphy were exactly what people needed to come down from the high of clustered deaths like Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “Limbaugh would certainly have excited political watchers on both sides of the spectrum and when he eventually does go it will be a big deal, but 2009 was packed and it may be that many people wanted it to happen simply because they were used to it, that they have almost become addicted to it now.”
Some of the most anticipated deaths of 2010 will likely be Zsa Zsa Gabor, Fidel Castro, and Kirk Douglas though it’s believed that there will be a few surprises in the mix.
“I mean no one would have predicted Brittany Murphy or Billy Mays last year. These things tend to take on a life of their own, so to speak, so you can never really predict who will go. Some are on the list year after year and will eventually make it, but others come from nowhere,” continued Temple. “I imagine that there will be a couple of shockers this year but that nothing will really match this year. Michael Jackson alone was enough for most years and I don’t see any way 2010 will top last year.”
Barack Obama is cited as unlikely but one of the most exciting possibilities for the New Year.
