THE SIMPSONS APPARENTLY STILL ON THE AIR

December 15 2009

Hollywood, CA – Long ago a show premiered on the nascent Fox channel that would forever change the face of broadcast television and comedy in all mediums. That show, The Simpsons, told a seemingly simple tale of a family in middle America and homer simpson
their daily trials, hardly a new idea for television but it’s execution would prove transformative. Introducing a much more risqué type of comedy to mainstream television, and carrying on its shoulders the now dominant Fox television presence, The Simpsons will forever be remembered as one of the most important shows in the history of the medium.

The success of the show and its subsequent embedding into global culture provided laughter to millions and made millions for its creators, helping to bring other hits such as ‘Futurama’ to the small screen. Of course all things, no matter how great, must eventually come to an end, something that many people believed had happened to ‘The Simpsons’ many years ago. Apparently though that is not that case and, if rumours are to be believed, the show continues to air in its regular 8:00 Sunday night slot, something that has come as a shock to many television viewers and older fans of the show who had long ago given it up for dead.the simpsons

“Yes, The Simpsons continues to air ever Sunday night just as it has for years. We understand that many people had been mistaken into believing that the show had in fact been cancelled but that is not true. The show has in fact never been close to being cancelled and we hope it will be around for many more years,” said a spokesperson for Fox. “The Simpsons is the longest running and most successful animated program in the history television and we fully intend for that to continue. We urge people to turn on their local Fox channel every Sunday night at 8:00 and enjoy the laughs and zany antics that the show has been delivering for the last twenty years. We are sure you will love it.”

The show airs just before ‘The Cleveland Show’ which is followed by hits ‘Family Guy’ and ‘American Dad’, two shows which have long been seen as the natural offspring of ‘The Simpsons’.

“The Simpsons has done many remarkable things in its run but this disappearing act is perhaps the most remarkable. The show was huge in the 90’s, just huge. Bart

Simpson and later Homer were probably better known than the Presidents through that era. There’s no superlative that can describe how truly massive that show was,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “And so it only makes sense that people just assumed that it had gone off the air. It went from being the biggest show in the world to having no one talk about it so naturally people just assumed that it had been cancelled. True they had the movie a couple of years ago but that didn’t mean the show was still on. It’s really incredible that it has continued to go on for so long with obviously no one watching it.” the simpsons

The show is also closing in on its 450th episode indicating that the program has aired continuously since its premiere.

“Apparently they are still contracted to deliver the show for a few more years so this revelation can only mean good things. Letting people know they are still airing episodes will allow at least the possibility that viewers might turn in to watch it once and awhile,” continued Temple. “Maybe they can get a new push behind the show and continue for another twenty years. They’ve been able to stay on the air for the last five or six with no viewers but that isn’t likely to last forever. This revelation will bring in more viewers and help them keep it going at least for a little while longer. Remarkable, just remarkable.”

Apparently another revolutionary 90’s cartoon, ‘South Park’ is also airing new episodes, something that was reportedly a surprise to the Comedy Channel which airs the program.
