COREY HAIM UNLIKELY TO MOUNT COMEBACK AFTER DEATH

Burbank, CA – Fame has a funny effect on certain people. For some it is merely a partner in life, for others it is a demon that must constantly be fought, and for some it is a curse, a burden that ultimately undoes itself and the person that has to deal 
with it. Horror stories of course are very common with more than a few having succumbed to the excesses that come with success and while such tragic endings may not be all that unique in comparison to the general population, the way they are played out in public often amplifies the tragedy.
Such has been the case for Corey Haim whose story ended tragically early Wednesday morning with a fatal drug overdose. Haim had been a major star in the 1980’s starring in cult classics such as ‘Lucas’ and ‘The Lost Boys’ only to fall victim to excess, spiralling downwards into drug and alcohol addiction, ruining his career in the process. Like many child stars of his generation, Haim seemed destined to this end despite, or perhaps because of, his early success. Despite numerous attempts to get clean and resurrect his career, this fate, OD in a sleazy motel, seemed the inevitable end for the actor. Now with that final reel unspooled, it seems that any attempt to recover his early promise and put his career back on track died along with the actor himself.
“I was awakened at 8:30 this morning by my brother and sister knocking on my bedroom door. They informed me of the loss of my brother Corey Haim. My eyes weren’t even open all the way when the tears started streaming down my face,” wrote former co-star Corey Feldman. “This is a tragic loss of a wonderful, beautiful, tormented soul, who will always be my brother,family, and best friend. We must all take this as a lesson in how we treat the people we share this world with while they are still here to make a difference. Please respect our families as we struggle and grieve through this difficult time. I hope the art Corey has left behind will be remembered as the passion of that for which he truly lived.”
Haim had been working on yet another comeback at the time of his death, which was believed likely to fail if he had lived.
“There isn’t a child of the eighties that doesn’t have a great deal of affection for the Corey’s and who isn’t very saddened by this news, at least a little bit. The Corey’s are still a major part of the culture of that decade, part of the bottom side of the decade to be sure, but still an important part,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “I’m sure all those fans would also have liked to have seen him make a comeback but that appears to be very unlikely now, as it probably was before his death, that is unless his Lost Boys role proves to be real.”
Haim portrayed one of the human heroes of the original film, but made a cameo as a vampire in the second which, if real, would allow him to live forever.
“So far at least there are no reports of stakes or holy water so if he did actually 
become a vampire for that role he may still be able to come back. That would really be the ultimate return, really in many ways he would redeem all those lost stars from the eighties. Even the possibility makes me very excited for Lost Boys 3,” continued Temple. “I felt the second one really tarnished the memory of the original. It didn’t feel like the original and was really quite bad but I will be first in line to rent the third one is Haim comes back for it. That would be pretty spectacular.”
The third Lost Boys film has been in development since last year, though reports state that Haim was not scheduled to be a part of the production, yet.
