GARY COLEMAN DIES; SMALL CEREMONY EXPECTED
May 28 2010
Provo, Utah – Rarely does the life of a child star go easily. Of course the same could be said for regular people as well, after all stars aren’t the only ones whose lives don’t go exactly as planned. Celebrities though remain celebrities throughout their lives and

their successes and failures are played out in the public for everyone to see. There have been some notable success stories from people such as Jodie Foster and Jackie Earle Haley but there have also been train wrecks and tragedies, tales that tell the trauma all too well.
Such trauma has unfortunately afflicted all three child stars of the hit 1980’s sitcom ‘Diff’rent Strokes’. Todd Bridges has had drug and alcohol problems leading him to multiple run-ins with the law. Dana Plato became a teenage mother, struggled with addiction, appeared in pornography films, and ultimately died of a drug overdose at the age of 34. Gary Coleman, the star of the show, suffered many health problems, emancipated from his parents, and had more than a few public legal problems and now at the age of 42 has died after suffering a fall at his Utah home. Though details are still coming in, it’s believed that Coleman will be buried in a small, private cemetery somewhere in Utah.
“Thanks to everyone for their well wishing and support during this tragic time. Now that Gary has passed, we know he will be missed because of all the love and support shown in the past couple of days. Gary is now at peace and his memory will be kept in the hearts of those who were entertained by him throughout the years,” said a rep for Coleman. “He was removed from life support; soon thereafter, he passed quickly and peacefully. By Gary’s bedside were his wife and other close family members. On Thursday he was conscious, lucid but by early afternoon that same day, Mr. Coleman was slipping in and out of consciousness, and his condition worsened.”
Coleman suffered an intracranial haemorrhage after the fall.
“Gary Coleman is really one of those sad stories. He showed such talent and such natural charisma as a youngster and you had to think that he was going to go onto great things. That didn’t happen of course and his career really turned out to be a short one which you have to speculate helped to lead him down that tragic path. It’s really a sad story,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “I mean he did meet his end in a perfectly normal way, but this was a talent, and not just a little talent, and to have seen it just go away and then end in such an ignominious way really adds punctuation to the tale. Perhaps when Todd Bridges finally dies we will all have closure to this sad and tragic chapter in the entertainment world.”
Coleman had run afoul of the law a number of times in recent years, though many of those incidents were small issues.
“No one is promised success in Hollywood and even those with a ton of talent can find themselves with the short stick. Coleman was one of those unfortunate few who suffered meagre success despite large talent and now it has all finally ended in paltry way,” continued Temple. “By the end I guess he had accepted the way things had turned out. He lived a humble life in a small town surrounded by a small group of loved ones. I guess no one can really ask for anything more. Hopefully he can now have a little peace.”
Coleman’s funeral is expected to draw a small number of fans who likely will not be allowed inside.
