GUILLERMO DEL TORO HATES HOBBITS, PETER JACKSON, NEW ZEALAND, QUITS MOVIE

June 1 2010

Auckland, New Zealand – It is unlikely that when J.R.R. Tolkien first started to dream of the complex world of Middle Earth that he had any idea that it would work out the way it has over the 65-years since its publication. Already a successful author, jrr tolkien
Tolkien’s work on the Epic of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ was more than a monumental achievement; it was a world changing one. The influence of that work – on literature, music, video games, movies, and popular culture in general – is something few other works had ever achieved before and few have done since.

That influence hit a crescendo when the first full scale film version of the story began to hit theatres in 2001 under the direction of Peter Jackson. Those films were not only massive hits unto themselves but they furthered the impact of the universe that Tolkien had invented, introducing it to a new generation, and solidifying it in the public consciousness. Because of that impact, and the ensuing financial windfall that benefited everyone involved in the project, it was inevitable that other works in Tolkien’s bibliography would start to make it to the silver screen. The first post-Rings project was intended to be the prequel to the story, ‘the Hobbit’, under the direction of renowned director Guillermo de Toro but that is now in question after he quit the project as a result of apparent disdain for everyone and everything involved.guillermo del toro

"In light of ongoing delays in the setting of a start date for filming “The Hobbit,” I am faced with the hardest decision of my life,” The director told TheOneRing.net.  “After nearly two years of living, breathing and designing a world as rich as Tolkien’s Middle Earth, I must, with great regret, take leave from helming these wonderful pictures. I remain grateful to Peter, Fran and Philippa Boyens, New Line and Warner Brothers and to all my crew in New Zealand. I’ve been privileged to work in one of the greatest countries on earth with some of the best people ever in our craft and my life will be forever changed.”

Apparently though Del Toro’s real reasons for leaving the project were of an altogether different, reasons he apparently did not want known publicly.the hobbit

“He is really sick of everything involved with the project. ‘The Hobbit’ was a dream project for him but the whole thing now has him soured. He hates New Zealand and he hates Peter Jackson and that has moved its way over to the hobbits and everything involved with them,” said an insider. “While the beauty of the countryside is apparent, it’s the people and the culture of New Zealand that he can’t stand. It’s like living in Arkansas with accents. They are bunch of gap mouthed dirt eaters and he can’t stand being around them anymore. Jackson is the same thing. He thought he could put up with it to make the movie but it turned out to be more than he could take.”

Del Toro was also apparently very upset that Jackson kept eating all his food.peter jackson oscar

“This is really a shame for everyone that was looking forward to seeing these movies, myself included. I mean they will still get made but del Toro has a unique perspective on things and seeing his kind of mad vision come to life in this project would have been something to see,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “I can totally understand though. I went to New Zealand once and I couldn’t wait to get off the island. I even remember looking at the water and trying to figure out whether or not I could swim over the Australia. It has horrible. I don’t blame him for wanting to get out.”

Peter Jackson, the overseer and co-writer of the project, is reportedly trying to lure another director to the country to direct the project. Apparently, with candy.
