MISCHA BARTON TEMPORARILY FORGETS HER OWN NAME

Hollywood, CA – Fortunes rise and fall in Hollywood. It’s nothing new. Entertainers have always lived very fragile lives, constantly walking the line between success and failure. Even before the movie industry began, entertainers and artists have always 
lived on the edge between the palace and the gutter. In the era of Hollywood and of potential success that former artists couldn’t even have fantasized about, the fall from grace is so much more precipitous that for many the end results are devastating.
The history of Hollywood declines has been well documented, drug addictions, death, and for many the worst fate of all, obscurity are all par for the course for such collapses. With so much at stake in the industry and so many people trying to get a foothold, such falls from grace are likely to continue for the foreseeable future, taking with them the hopes and dreams of thousands whose only dream was to entertain. 
Occasionally the industry sees a comeback, a person coming to terms with what has caused their failure and, overcoming them, they are redeemed. These are the stories that Hollywood has been built on, but more often than not, it is the horror stories, the utter collapses that compel so many. Such a story is apparently the case with former ‘O.C.’ star Mischa Barton who, like just about everyone else, has apparently forgotten her name.
“When she first came into the store I thought I recognized her but I wasn’t sure. It was one of those situations where you are sure you’ve seen the person before, but you just can’t remember for sure. It was only after she left that I remembered who she was,” said Donna Hixon of ‘Nature’s Emporium’ in Los Angeles. “I chatted her up a little bit, she seemed interested in buying something, but I also wanted to get her name. I introduced myself and she seemed like she was going to give me her name, she kind of thought about it for a little bit, then just kind of wandered away. It was very strange.”
Similar incidents have also cropped up regarding Barton, including an awkward situation at the DMV which saw her leave and later come back with a friend who managed to give her name.
“It’s been hard on Barton for a long time. She had all this success for a little bit and then nothing, like nothing. She was the toast of the town, one of the biggest stars in the world for about a year, and then nothing. Movies no one saw, a series that aired only one episode, really just an utter disaster,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “It’s not surprising that other people aren’t remembering her name but this is the first time I have ever heard about a former star forgetting their own name. From people I have talked to however these couple of incidents aren’t isolated. She’s been going around with flash cards that had her name, her address, and other vitals like her age just in case.”
Barton has also become known as a heavy partier and it’s believed that she may have left her flash cards behind at a bar.
“Thanks to the ubiquitous nature of the internet it’s entirely possible that generations to come will remember her name. This isn’t like fallen stars of the past who are only remembered through their work, in the modern world every detail of their lives is archived on the web in some form,” continued Temple. “Hopefully someday Barton will learn how to use the web and perhaps keep a website with her name on it bookmarked. That way she will not only be able to remember her name but also some other important aspects of her life. The internet, it’s really quite amazing.”
Barton was last seen wandering aimlessly through a Los Angeles area lighting store.
