SHOCK: RICKY MARTIN SAYS HE IS GAY

New York, NY – The private lives of public people have always held a fascination for the peons of the world. In recent times it is movie and music stars whose intimate details have compelled the masses. Before that it was Kings and Queens, before that
even the intimate details of the lives of the Gods were ripe fodder for public discourse. Perhaps that interest is embedded in human beings, the desire to bring the elite down to our level, or perhaps it is just gossip, so universal that it can be discussed with anyone. Whatever the reason, that chatter is here to stay.
While gossip in personal life can be devastating, in the celebrity realm it has turned into a bona fide marketing tool with new personalities existing solely on the chatter they create, witness Tila Tequila or Heidi Montag. Being
able to play the press, and having a compelling enough storyline, has become a talent itself with many celebrities spending more time honing those skills than more traditional ones such as singing and acting. Even being out of the game for some time, those skills often remain sharp as is the case with Ricky Martin. Formerly one of the biggest music stars on the planet, Martin’s career has been on the downslide in recent years but with a new album on the way and a shock announcement that he is gay, things are certainly starting to look up for the former powerhouse performer.
“A few months ago I decided to write my memoirs, a project I knew was going to bring me closer to an amazing turning point in my life. From the moment I wrote the first phrase I was sure the book was the tool that was going to help me free myself from things I was carrying within me for a long time,” wrote Martin. “These years in silence and reflection 
made me stronger and reminded me that acceptance has to come from within and that this kind of truth gives me the power to conquer emotions I didn't even know existed. I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am.”
Martin’s new album is expected to release later this year alongside his autobiography.
“For years Hollywood was afraid of homosexuality. It was a scourge to be avoided at every turn. Actors and actresses would be set up with
people of the opposite sex and forced to marry them. Charles Laughton for example was married to Elsa Lanchester for over thirty years despite that fact that he was blatantly homosexual. They were even buried together. Such was the lot for gay people in entertainment,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “Luckily that’s changed in recent years and gay people are allowed to be who they are and be with whom they want without risking their careers. Of course, that has had the opposite effect and now people are claiming to be gay left right and centre.”
Martin was long rumoured to be gay early in his career, though he repeatedly denied those claims leading many to agree that he was indeed straight.
“Of course now that it’s convenient for him, out of the closet he comes. Being gay has been pretty acceptable for the last fifteen or so years, even more so in music, but now that he is trying to mount a comeback all of a sudden he’s on the brokeback bandwagon. More than a little convenient I would say,” continued Temple. “He denied it for so many years and now that he needs it, he starts on about penises. He’s proven again and again that he likes women and I think very few people will fall into this trap. It has to be about the music, not the person, and Ricky Martin still hasn’t learned that. It’s time for him to come out of the straight closet.”
Martin has reportedly been having a lot of sex with men lately.
