STEPHEN BALDWIN AND PAULY SHORE TO FINALLY REUNITE IN BIO-DOME 3D

May 19 2010

Hollywood, CA – Laurel and Hardy, Abbot and Costello, Burns and Allen, Martin and Lewis, Aykroyd and Belushi, Odenkirk and Cross. These are just a few of the great comedy duos that have graced the large and small silver screens since the inventions abott and costello
of the medium a little over 100 years ago. There have been many more of course and every chooses their own favourite but for every generation these duos have defined the essence of a comedy pair and had great success as a result.

Amongst those great duos there would likely never be mention of Shore and Baldwin, as in Pauly and Stephen, though many have speculated that is only the result of circumstance, not chemistry. It was 1996 and ‘Independence Day’ was at the top of the box office, Garry Kasparov defeated ‘Deep Blue’ in their second meeting, and Bob Dole would begin his attempt to push Bill Clinton from office. That year also saw the release of a little film called ‘Bio-Dome’ pairing Shore and Baldwin in their first and only big screen meeting. Released in January of that year, the film received poor reviews but solid box office, prompting many to assume bio dome cover
that this would only be the first of a series of comedy pairings but alas that was not to be, until now with the announcement of the next chapter in the saga, ‘Bio-Dome 3-D’set to be released in 2011.

“It’s really cool. We got this script together and like it’s really good. It’s been a really long time since we were both on screen together but it’s going to be worth the wait. The script we have and the people involved are going to make this shweet,” said Shore who is also acting as the producer. “It took a little effort to convince Stephen because of his religious beliefs but we toned down the content and he’s totally on board. We’ve actually been talking about this since the time when were making the last movie but it just took this long for everything to fall into place.”pauly shore

The exact date hasn’t been announced due to the 3-D element which has become extremely popular, meaning that many screens are in use. Jason Bloom, the director of the first film whom most people assumed was dead, will direct the next instalment.

“This is one of the most interesting projects to come along in while. Inundated as we are by remakes seeing a follow up to what was really an original film when it came out as well as reteaming the two of these talents is really exciting and will hopefully lead into more projects in the future,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “The first movie wasn’t great but you could see the chemistry between the two of them. You just felt while watching it that if they were given stronger material it would have been a cinch to create something truly magical. Hopefully that is what we will see in 2011.”stephen baldwin

The first film was distributed by MGM, now in bankruptcy, but the rights appear to have moved to Fox which has nothing better on their release slate.

“You saw all the potential right from the start and you lamented the fact that they weren’t able to explore things more fully. It felt like something was lost when they didn’t follow up, like the world had been denied something but sometimes that is the process and it is better late than never,” continued Temple. “I for one will be there opening day and will be more than happy to pay the increased ticket price. Hopefully our patience will be rewarded.”

Baldwin has a number of movies in production before beginning work on the film including a sequel to ‘Shark in Venice’ titled ‘Sharks in Venice’.
