TONY DANZA FOUND ALIVE AND WELL IN LOS ANGELES
April 15 2010
Los Angeles, CA – There was a time when Tony Danza was one of the biggest stars in television. The star of two classic sitcoms (Taxi and Who’s the Boss?) Danza’s singular American-Italian charm and rugged good looks pervaded the televisions of
millions throughout the 1970’s and 80’s. Like all good things, his time in the spotlight was due to end eventually and for the nearly two decades since the end of his charmed life the actor has only been occasionally present on televisions and in the public realm.
Luckily for fans of the actor, his disappearance from their homes appears to have been nothing more than a decline in popularity and not something far, far worse as many people had feared. According to a series of new reports the actor has been spotted in and around the Los Angeles area over the last few weeks, indicating that fears of his passing or some other mysterious fate were misplaced. Though no one was actually able to approach the actor during their sightings, it has been confirmed by multiple sources that his appearance matched the most recently released pictures which were taken sometime in late 2008.
“I was driving along La Cienaga, stopped at the light right by the Target and I looked over and I saw this guy standing there waiting to cross. I didn’t recognize him at first and it wasn’t until the light changed and I drove away that I realized who it was. I used to watch ‘Who’s the Boss?’ every night when I was a kid. He looks different, but I know it was him. It sounds weird but hat face is kind of burned into my memory. It was Tony Micelli!,” said LA resident Miguel Carbone.
“I saw him on Van Nuys by the Rite Aid there. I was coming out and I saw this guy wandering back and forth around the dumpster. I didn’t think anything of it and got into my car and was pulling out when I looked into my rear view mirror and saw the guy running towards the garbage. I saw his face and I knew it was him. I leaned out of my car and yelled his name but he didn’t answer. I pulled into traffic and that was the last I saw of him,” said Michelle Hamburg of Venice.
Such stories have been popping up throughout the city and the surrounding areas for the last few weeks, reaching as far north as Ventura and south into City of Industry where the actor was apparently seen removing his shirt like the Incredible Hulk behind the local Costco.
“This isn’t exactly a firm confirmation that Danza is somehow still alive but it is heartening news. Odds are that there aren’t many Tony Danza impersonators outside of Las Vegas and so that makes it likely that these sightings are of him. The fact that so many different people have spotted also lends credence to that,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “Add to that the fact that many of these stories jive with what we know about the man and there is a good likelihood that he is in fact still alive and probably doing well.”
All sightings indicated that Danza appeared healthy.
“This is good news for a variety of reasons including the possible return of his most beloved role. The Who’s the Boss Musical has been in the works for a long time and it would be a tough go without the input of the man who originated the starring role,” co'ntinue Temple. “Hopefully this doesn’t turn out to be just another series of false sightings like what happened in February of 2009. That got a lot of hopes up and amounted to nothing in the end.”
Danza’s co-star in ‘Who’s the Boss?’ Judith Light has not been seen since her role on ‘Ugly Betty’ finished earlier this year.
