DAVID SCHWIMMER DEAD OR DYING OR SOMETHING

Hollywood, CA – Through the 1990’s there was one group of friends that dominated the public scene. In a show about self-absorbed twenty-somethings the world found a group of people with whom they could identify, even if they did live in a fantasy. The 
ratings success of ‘Friends’ was far from a guarantee but the poignant and humorous relationships between a group of people everyone wanted to be made it into a giant that helped to define the cultural landscape of the decade.
Whatever the fates of Rachel, Phoebe, Monica, Joey, Chandler, and Ross might be in the ethereal world of fiction, the fates of the actors who portrayed them is clearly accessible for everyone to see. The ladies of the show have gone on to great success with one, Jennifer Aniston, becoming a bona fide movie star. The men haven’t fared quite so well but have stayed in the public eye, appearing in movies and television shows on a regular basis. Well, two of them have stayed active, the other one not so much. David Schwimmer, essentially the leading man of the show, has been most off the radar in the last few years leading many to wonder if he might have passed away in some unknown corner of the world. However, a fresh interview with co-star Matthew Perry indicates that Ross is indeed alive and possibly even kicking.
Reporter: “All the Friends are sort of cooking along pretty well these days except, it seems, for David.”
Matthew: “If he were here, would you say, ‘Except for Matthew?’ ”
Reporter: “It seems as if you and Matt and certainly Lisa and Courteney are all pretty darn successful on TV…and maybe I’m missing something with David…”
Matthew: “Are we anywhere near a question?”
Reporter: “Do you ever see David, and has he talked to you about his goals?”
Matthew: “I have not seen David for a while but I would assume he’s doing exactly what he wants to be doing. He loves directing and he loves the theater, so he’s probably doing a bunch of that lame stuff.” 
Few though have taken those words at face value given the relative indifference of the answer, prompting new questions as to Schwimmer’s status as a living entity.
“Supposedly he’s been off directing. He’s got a listing on the IMDB for a movie that is supposed to be coming out later this year. It’s good to hear that I suppose but that doesn’t mean he’s alive. Many movies have been released after the principles have died and that could be the case here,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “One would think that we would have heard about his death so it could be that he is still alive but that doesn’t mean that he’s doing well. He could have lost a limb or been horribly disfigured or something like that. It would be sad to hear that but at least he will have a reason for being out the spotlight.”
The movie ‘Trust’ will be out later in the year and is likely to be seen by very few people.
“When you saw the cast it was pretty easy to see which one was going to fall by the wayside. There was really nothing dynamic about him and so it makes sense that he kind of fell away but it’s still a little sad to see. I mean I don’t have any affection for the show but he tried and he failed and that’s kind of sad whenever it happens,” continued Temple. “If he is alive I hope he’s happy at least. I mean even if he’s got some horrible burns on his body that prevents him from being seen in public I hope he’s at least happy. Or not, guess it doesn’t really matter in the end.”
Schwimmer is apparently engaged to Zoe Buckman, a name most people have assumed is made up.
