EXPERTS CONCERNED AFTER KRISTEN STEWART SMILES AT MTV AWARDS

Los Angeles, CA – Celebrity has always been about image. In earlier years Kings, Emperors, and Caesars spent the majority of their time cultivating a very specific image in order to impress upon their people the exact example they were trying to 
create. In the modern day leaders do that same thing, no matter their true personality, but the idea of impressions and image have been taken to an entirely new level with the advent of celebrity culture.
No matter what the image that people and their people try to present and cultivate, the reality of modern celebrities is that little is done without deliberation. Certainly there are troubled stars that break with program and indulge their human weaknesses, but even those people generally come around to accept the programs and work a very specific image. Nowhere is that more true and more difficult than in young Hollywood. For established stars some indulgences can be forgiven but for younger players, whose star is far from certain, the cultivation of a specific image, whatever that might be, is essential to success. With her star on the rise, but long term success still far from certain, Kristen Stewart is one of those young stars struggling with an image problem. Now a fresh appearance on the MTV red carpet has many industry watchers and mental health experts concerned that she might be breaking from her well worn image after cracking a smile.
“A smile could mean many things but in the case of Stewart it’s very much a concern. She has for these last few years cultivated this very specific image and now appears to be turning that on its head. You will also note that she was wearing a dress and has done so to a number of shows in recent months. This could be a desired change but it could also be something else,” said mental health expert Dr. David Crumble. “There is certainly the opportunity for people to grow and change but when you start to see this kind of erratic behaviour you need to be very concerned that perhaps something is going wrong. Because she is a child star that threat is a very real one.”
Stewart generally appears extremely unhappy at premieres, or as though she is suffering from major indigestion.
“Without analyzing her it would be impossible to determine whether or not this was a new image they are cultivating or the product of something much more dire. She is a young woman and drastic personality changes can occur to young people but because she has other risk factors we should be concerned,” continued Crumble. “Sudden personality changes can the result of a number of major mental illnesses including schizophrenia. While such a diagnosis would take a great deal of in depth study of the patient I feel confident stating that she is at least suffering from some sort of mental deformation that needs to be treated immediately before it gets worse.”
Stewart’s boyfriend and ‘Twilight’ co-star Robert Pattinson has been known to smile on occasion.
“I have to say that I kind of hope this is a result of mental illness because if it isn’t, it is one of the stupidest PR moves in recent history. Absolutely no one is cultivating that sullen look with any success so she had a corner on the look. Once she starts smiling she is just like everyone else and that won’t help her career in the long. Big stars are unique, they are individuals, they don’t fit in and that is exactly what she is doing with this,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “At least mental illness can be treated and if managed effectively can bring a whole lot of attention. Not the kind of dirt bag craziness like Lindsay Lohan or Britney Spears but more institutional crazy. That would certainly bring her a lot of attention and help her eventually break out of the Twilight thing which she will need to do in order to be successful in the long run.”
There were no reports of the sky falling in or near Los Angeles during the ceremony.
