JAMES CAMERON LOOKING TO PLUG OIL LEAK IN 3D

June 2 2010

Hollywood, CA – There are a few names in filmmaking that are truly the stuff of legend. Hitchcock, Ford, Kubrick, and Huston are just a few of the names that make up the legend of Hollywood. Some, like Spielberg, Coppola, and Scorsese are still living stanley kubrick
and though their talents may not be what they once were, those greats are still adding to their own legend an in the process helping to decide Hollywood history. James Cameron, the most fiscally successful director in history, will likely never be mentioned amongst those greats.

Even with the two biggest box-office hits in history, ‘Titanic’ and ‘Avatar’, in his canon and even with his well earned credit as a technological innovator, Cameron has long been considered second rate when it comes to artistry. Most in his element when it comes to action, much like a peer of other living greats, George Lucas, Cameron has gained respect and popular appeal but none of that has put him the upper echelon of directors and likely never will. Still, Cameron has forged a unique place in Hollywood history and no doubt earned himself quite a satisfying living in the process, not bad for a kid from small town Canada. Now though Cameron has turned his attention from the world of film to the world of real life with his pledge to revolutionize the way that oil spills are capped in the Gulf of Mexico.james cameron oscars

“Jim is all over this. He’s been watching the coverage of the spill and is totally disgusted by the whole thing. Obviously he is very concerned about the environment and the economic impact the spill is having, even though he doesn’t have a new movie anytime soon, but he’s just watching and seeing how it can be done better,” said an insider. “From what I’ve heard he’s been sitting at home shouting at the TV calling them idiots and doing sketches of different devices that could stop the flow. He’s been driving Suzy crazy and finally he’s going to Washington to see if he can get in on the whole thing.”

‘Avatar’ is due to be re-released in the summer and new DVD and Blu-Ray releases are expected in the fall, all of which could be hurt by the economic losses in the gulf region.

“He’s really passionate about this whole thing. He wants to take a manned gulf oil spil
submersible down to the leak and film it for the whole world to see. He wants to stop the leak but he also wants to make sure that he gets some great shots before the leak is capped. And yes, he wants to bring 3D cameras,” continued the insider. “There are other celebrities involved. Both Kevin Costner and Victoria Principal have contributed to the effort. I’m sure Jim would want to one up them, just as he always does and I imagine that if they have him involved they will be able to terminate the leak in short order.”

Costner apparently found loose change in his couch which he has donated to the development of a machine that will aid in cleanup.

“It’s really a good thing that we have people like James Cameron around. You wouldn’t avatar movie
have seen Bill Wilder going down in a submersible to stop an oil spill. Woody Allen won’t be wearing waders, cleaning up dirty pelicans. With Cameron, Hollywood has ensured that they have a real A-list presence in the region,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “It’ll take another ten years for Cameron to make a movie so he has plenty of time to kill. If he hadn’t gone then it would have taken away from Will Smith or Brad and Angie and that is that last thing any of us need. I’m sure they are as concerned as anyone, but we want to see them on the big screen not out cleaning up dead fish.”

Cameron has reportedly been in touch with BP executives after finding they had lost almost a billion dollars on the oil spill though he stopped short of offering financial assistance.
