LUCY LIU STILL WATCHING HER OWN MOVIES

June 18 2010

Hollywood, CA – Once upon a time a young girl from Queens who dreamt of Hollywood stardom. The daughter of immigrants from Taiwan, her dream wasn’t unlike the dreams of millions before her or all those that would come after her. The United lucy liu
States after all is a country of immigrants, a country which draws people on the hopes and dreams of building a better life for themselves and for their families. That is the dream that has built the U.S. into the most powerful country in the world, and it is the dream that Lucy Liu took to heart.

When her parents sacrificed their careers in moving to the United States it’s likely they dreamt of academic success for their children. Perhaps they dreamt of a nice home, happy marriages, and loving grandchildren. What they likely didn’t expect was that one of their children would go on to become a movie star, which is exactly what Lucy Liu did, at least for a short time. With a breakthrough role in ‘Ally McBeal’ and big movies such as ‘Charlie’s Angels’, ‘Jerry Maguire’, and ‘Kill Bill’ Liu seemed destined to Hollywood success. Alas, that has not come to be. Despite an impressive resume Liu’s career has faltered in recent years with minor roles in major movies and major roles in minor movies. Liu though hasn’t changed and continues to enjoy not only her greatest successes but also those works most people wouldn’t even consider watching.charlie's angels

“I know a lot of people haven’t seen many of my newer movies but I have to say that is really their loss. I don’t mean anything by it but some of these movies are really good and I’m really good in them. I just want people to see these movies and realize that there has been life after Kill Bill,” said Liu in an exclusive interview. “A lot of people saw Kung Fu Panda and that was great but as much as I love that movie, and the new one, which by the way will be out May 27, 2011, it’s not exactly the same thing as seeing me on screen.”

Liu’s last major onscreen appearance was in 2006’s ‘Luck Number Slevin’ which has been seen by immediate family and handful of friends.

“I wouldn’t say that I’m getting better but I’m certainly not getting any worse. My skills lucy liu kill bill
are still there and I have to say that for a woman in her forties I’m still looking pretty good. My TV work is pretty good too, better frankly than a lot of the other actors. But of course, I’ve been in movies so that’s to be expected,” continued Liu. “I was talking to Calista (Flockhart) the other day and we both more or less agreed that more people should be watching my stuff. We both enjoy my earlier work but agree that my current stuff is really good as well and totally worth watching. The best thing about these smaller movies is that I’m in them a whole lot more and that makes them way more enjoyable.”

‘Ally McBeal’ star Flockhart is most recently finished up a role on TV’s ‘Brothers and Sisters’ and is married to Harrison Ford, someone who also apparently enjoys his own work very much.lucy liu ecks vs sever

“Look, I’m not the best actress to ever live. I realize that. There are literally dozens of better actresses out there but I still have a place in Hollywood history and I deserve that. I’ve done the work and the quality is there so I’m not speaking out of turn,” continued Liu. “There was a moment in ‘Kill Bill’ that I usually think of. It was the first scene with me as we are all walking down the hall and I kind of look at the camera. It was subtle but it was kind of genius really. I’m very proud of that moment and it shows how good I can be and how much success I deserve to have. In fact I’m going to watch that movie tonight, well at least my scenes. I can’t stand watching Uma Thurman for two hours.”

Liu also stated that she owns copies of every single movie in which she has appeared, including a series of home movies for which she is currently trying to secure a release.
