MC REN GIVES THUMBS DOWN TO ICE CUBE’S NEWEST MOVIE

Los Angeles, CA – There was a time in music when attitude ruled. For decades, from Chuck Berry to Marilyn Manson, music artists did what they wanted whenever they wanted and didn’t care what anyone else said. Inevitably as those artists aged, their 
rebelliousness cooled but there was always someone new to take up the mantle, to continue to fight not only for some kind of social revolution but also to exhibit the passion of art and music. That attitude has mostly vanished in the modern world.
For a time there was one band that exemplified such an attitude better than anyone. When N.W.A. exploded onto the scene in 1988, they brought not only rebellion but real anarchy to the music scene. They boasted aggressive lyrics, pounding beats, and a take no prisoner’s attitude of the likes no one had ever seen before, perhaps best showcased in the anthemic ‘Straight Outta Compton’. Shortly after that album dropped the band began to break apart. Principal songwriter Ice Cube left and pursued a solo career and after a single EP and album, the whole band broke apart. Eventually founded and brainchild Eazy-E passed away, closing the chapter on the band forever. However, some of the former members have
stayed active, most notably Dr. Dre and Ice Cube who have become millionaires. Other members though have not had it so good, most notably principal lyricist MC Ren whose career fell off the tracks. However, still alive, Ren has stayed active and has started to pursue movie criticism and his first effort is a project featuring his former band mate.
“I didn’t like you know. I mean there were a couple good jokes and everything but the whole movie just didn’t come together and stuff. I don’t know man, Cube wasn’t all that great either in the movie which was strange, he’s usually real good,” said Ren in rare interview. “He’s got better movies and I’d rather watch those. I’d say watch those movies man. Cube you gotta do better than Lottery Ticket, you is way better than that.”
Ren will be posting his reviews on his MySpace site as well as handing them out to fans at shows, something he plans to continue for the foreseeable future.
“Yeah man, I just had a album out last year. I’m still dropping beats and dropping the truth. That’s the way Ren rolls, it’s the way I always rolled and the way I always will. Some suckers think I be out in retirement or somethin’ but that ain’t the case. Ren will always be bringing the streets to yo ears,” continued Ren. “Suckas think they got me but they ain’t never gonna get Ren. Now that I’m droppin’ the truth on the movies people will see that Ren is still as bad as ever, the baddest movie reviewer on the planet. Watch out Cube and Hollywood cause Ren is on the case.”
Fellow former band mate DJ Yella has continued the rebellion by producing pornography in the Los Angeles area.
“N.W.A. was an atomic bomb on the music scene. Even today you can hear how angry and how harsh the music is but at the time it was something else entirely. They 
grabbed the public, the politicians, and the business world and totally broke down everything. This was a band that hit number one of the billboard charts without any radio play, they were way beyond huge,” said Scrape TV Music analyst Dylan Chambers. “They were the boogey men that kept parents awake at night and that was exactly what music was supposed to do. Things fell apart though as tends to happen in bands. It happened with a lot of them in the 80’s and that was pretty much the end for that rebellion. It’s good that some of them have been able to stay busy and it’s really good to hear that Ren is doing well and still trying to make things happen. I always liked him.”
‘Lottery Ticket’ was also poorly received by other critics and has done poorly at the box office, thus far.
