MPAA TO FINALLY CRACK DOWN ON ASHTON KUTCHER

Hollywood, CA – From the very start it was clear that one person on ‘That 70’s Show’ had real potential to break out and become a star. With matinee good looks, terrific comic timing, and loads and loads of charisma it seemed only a matter of time
before Ashton Kutcher would be one of the biggest stars in the world. Whether or not that fame would have lasted in the long run is something that can be debated, but his shot at super stardom seemed assured.
With starring roles in minor movies, all utilizing his various talents, it seemed that Kutcher was well on his way to stardom that could have rivalled Tom Cruise in his prime. However by the time his run on the show that made him famous was done, so too it seemed was that upward potential. With only a handful of movies since that time, none of which have broken into mainstream success, Kutcher has become most famous for his marriage to Demi Moore and his record setting number of followers on Twitter, hardly Tom Cruise or Clark Gable. Now Kutcher has run into a new obstacle after declaring that he would pirate his latest film, ‘Killers’, bringing him to the attention of the dread MPAA which is now investigating not only his downloading activities but also why he has been allowed to continue to appear in films and television for so long.
“They knew about him obviously but there is a very long to-do list for the organization and he just wasn’t high on the list, for obvious reasons. Piracy though is something that is very much on the agenda and when he declared that he would pirate the movie he flew to the top of the list. He is firmly in their sights now,” said and MPAA insider. “They routinely go through actors that have for whatever reason failed to appease them and get rid of them. He was far down on the list because he had had some success but now by encouraging this behaviour he is very much in their sights.”
Wife Demi Moore was demoted by the agency many years ago.
“They were more or less content to just let him sit way down on the list but by doing this he has become a whole new threat. Basically they try to get rid of people who have become significant financial burdens, something that is usually related to box office success but now he is hitting them right where it hurts and that has pretty much spelled the end for him,” continued the insider. “He’ll still be able to make movies but he won’t be in many more big budget things. I’d imagine we’ll see him headlining alongside Lorenzo Lamas and Steve Guttenberg in the very near future. I’m sure Guttenberg will be able to help guide him through the maze that is the wrath of the MPAA. Kutcher just shot himself in the foot.”
Guttenberg was one of the biggest stars of the 1980’s but fell afoul of the agency after the release of ‘High Spirits’ in 1987. The director of the film Neil Jordan was delisted after ‘In Dreams’ was released.
“The reality is there are very few major movies released every year and a lot of people
that want to be in them. The studios and banks need to make smart decisions not only for themselves but also for the health of the industry as a whole. There are so many entertainment options today that a few flops could forever damage the perception of the industry and you simply cannot allow people who can’t deliver major roles,” said Scrape TV Business analyst Ken Green. “Like any medium the film industry as a whole is decided by its successes and its failures and if they have too many flops people will just lose interest and move onto something else. They simply cannot have someone who is hurting film continuing to appear in them and that means that Kutcher has to go and the sooner the better, for everyone.”
Kutcher will next appear in an untitled Ivan Reitman film co-starring Natalie Portman which no one is expected to see.
