MILEY CYRUS CONSIDERING RETIREMENT
June 3 2010
Los Angeles, CA – There has, arguably, been no more a meteoric rise in pop music than that of Miley Cyrus. Even the archetype for teen pop stardom, Britney Spears, never achieved the level of success that Cyrus has enjoyed over the last few years.
With her image crossing over into every possible element of popular culture – music, TV, film, videogames – Cyrus is beyond a pop star. Though she would have a long way to go before achieving the kind of success that someone that Michael Jackson enjoyed, her start has easily put her on that path to mega stardom on a scale few could ever dream of achieving.
Of course no one knows what the future can bring. At her age Michael Jackson no doubt felt that the sky was the limit but, undone by his obsessions and insecurities and creative stagnation, his celebrity went far off the expected path. By the time he eventually died, his career that had had so much promise had long been buried. Cyrus, being seventeen, of course would expect that her fate would be much different even though those older and wiser could tell her different. Nonetheless, Cyrus has started to consider her future and new insider reports indicate that she may already preparing for her retirement which could come sometime after her 18th birthday later this year.
“It’s becoming more and more of thing she thinks about and talks about recently. There’s the grind of course, I mean the touring, recording, the film acting really takes its toll on her but it’s more than that. She is starting to feel like she’s made her contribution to the world and no it’s time to sit back and let others do the work,” said a Miley insider. “She just feels that she’s at an age where she should be able to take it easy and relax. 18 is a big birthday and she’s starting to feel her age. Even if she does retire though I’d bet she will make a comeback. She still loves the spotlight.”
At that age Cyrus would be one of the youngest retirees ever in the history of the world.
“She looks at people like Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and she admires their success
but she just doesn’t want to be running around at that age doing that much work. She really feels that at twenty-four she will be in some villa somewhere enjoying her golden years but frankly I don’t think that’s going to happen. I’ve seen her on stage, I’ve seen the rush it gives her,” continued the insider. “It’s far from a done deal. She’s touring Europe right now and she’s got the new record coming out so she’s got a lot going on but she is starting to get those aches and pains and has started to say that this album may well be her last.”
Fellow former teen pop star Avril Lavigne, now 25, has long since retired or died or something.
“It frankly would be a real shame if Miley were to retire with so much that could still be done in her career. She’s had a few songs that have broken the threshold of terrible music and there would likely be a few more but that isn’t where we would really feel the loss. She hasn’t had the chance to get fat or start drinking and that kind of fall is exactly what we expect in pop music,” said Scrape TV Music analyst Dylan Chambers. “Rock stars do that all the time and come out fine on the other end. With pop stars that just isn’t the case. Sometimes they sink and sometimes they swim and it would have been interesting to see where she would have gone. It also would have been interesting to see the wardrobe malfunctions, once she hits eighteen of course. Yeah, we would really miss out on that.”
Cyrus will have earned approximately 27 dollars in retirement pension if she retires at eighteen.
