‘N SYNC CONSIDERING REUNION FOR LOLLAPALOOZA TOUR
June 29 2010
Los Angeles, CA – Soundgarden; Hole; Faith No More; Stone Temple Pilots; Rage Against the Machine. Taken unto itself that list would read like a who’s who in music for the year 1994 but today, all these years later, it means something different. All of

those groups have jumped on the reuniting bandwagon that has overtaken many bands before them and with them have started to bring back the sound of that era. Though years older and far less hungry than in those early days, those bands (and many other) likely still have something to contribute from a sonic landscape thought lost long ago.
Another one of the defining groups from that decade was the record breaking boy band *NSYNC whose success helped propel the music industry to all new heights and gave a generation a voice. Of course all good things must end and that’s exactly what happened with the group. At the height of their fame, like many great bands before them, *NSYNC broke up leaving their fans wanting more and music listeners around the world feeling lost. Some of that pain was abated by the solo success of Justin Timberlake but still fans have clamoured for more, and that is exactly what they may get. Rumours have begun to circulate that the group will indeed reunite later this year with a possible appearance at the vaunted 90’s music celebration Lollapalooza.
“It’s happening one way or the other. They are trying to get on the Lollapalooza tour but its kind of late in the game. The organizers want them but most of the stages have already been booked. It’s not like it used to be, the show doesn’t tour and so there are a limited number of slots,” said an *NSYNC insider. “What may happen is that they will do some kind of reunion later in the year and make it for next year’s tour. They really wanted to be there for the show but this whole thing has only come together at the last minute and that has left them a little behind.”
Fellow reunitee Soundgarden will be at Lollapalooza, headlining the South Stage on the last day of the show.
“Lollapalooza was really the premiere show of the 1990’s. It had all the big indie acts and introduced huge bands like Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam, and Alice in Chains to the world. The show really defined the music scene of the decade so it’s only fitting that one of the biggest bands of the decade wants to bring things back on that tour,” said Scrape TV Music analyst Dylan Chambers. “Music is a tribal thing and because of that it is often hotly contested. People form very strong allegiances to their particular band and bond with others who feel the same way. In the 1990’s the fans of say Rage Against the Machine wouldn’t have melded with *NSYNC fans but like everything, time seems to have changed that. People have grown up and such divisions simply don’t exist.”
*NSYNC has routinely teased the possibility of reunion but made few real overtures to put on a new show.
“Frankly I would be one of the first to buy a ticket for that show and I’m sure I wouldn’t be alone. *NSYNC at the concerts would bring all kinds of fresh success to the tour and possibly prompt them to re-launch it properly. If not this year than maybe next year, I guess we will have to wait and see,” continued Chambers. “For now we’ll have to be happy with who we’ve got but maybe by this time next year we will be talking about the new *NSYNC album and all will be right with the world.”
Fellow 90’s giant Nirvana will apparently not be reuniting despite rumours to the contrary.
