VERY FEW PEOPLE HAPPY ABOUT RESURGING CAREER OF CHEVY CHASE

August 8 2010

Los Angeles, CA – Genius. Visionary. Officious prick. Chevy Chase has been called all of those things and more in his career that has now spanned forty years. In that time Chase has hit the highest of highs in a difficult business and also suffered the lowest chevy chase snl
of lows, much like the experience of virtually everyone else who enters show biz. For Chase though the early promise was something special. His role as the breakout star on the nascent ‘Saturday Night Live’ seemed to guarantee him legendary success, which never came.

At first it seemed like everything was going to go alright. His initial departure from ‘SNL’ was controversial but understood and after a few underwhelming movies Chase hit the big time with a role in ‘Caddyshack’. Again, a few poor choices followed but his public appeal remained and eventually translated into huge success with the one-two punch of ‘Vacation’ and ‘Fletch’ which made him a bona-fide star. Various star vehicle followed with variable success, but Chase remained untouchable for a few more years. However by the end of the 1980’s that good will was lost and his career sank into oblivion for nearly two decades. However recently with a role on the hit ‘Community’ and as an in demand commercial actor, Chase has started to regain some of his old magic, much to the chagrin of virtually everyone who ever worked with him.chevy chase

“He’s not my favourite person I can tell you that. I worked with him twice and that was it. I even quit a job when I found out he was on the show. He’s really an unappealing person in real life and he’s very hard to work with,” said a Hollywood insider. “It was a kind of open secret that everyone was happy that his career had fallen apart. There was definitely an element of revenge in that but it was also very satisfying knowing that there was little chance that anyone would have to work with him again. That doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.”

In the early nineties a group of celebrities pooled money together as a donation to ensure that Chase would never need to work again. Chase reportedly took the money and spent it on hookers and blow.chevy chase vacation

“This one story has always stuck with me. There was this AD on a show that Chase was on and the two had had a feud. Chase actually came to him to try and make peace which was shocking to everyone. They went for coffee and Chase reached over the table, grabbed his cup, spit in it and walked away,” continued the insider. “It isn’t just crew either. There’s more than one reason they kept changing the kids in the National Lampoon movies. Randy Quaid and Beverly D’Angelo are the only people willing to work with multiple times, or at least they were. I heard that Quaid jumped ship after Chase poisoned his dog, but that’s just a rumour.”

Dan Aykroyd reportedly attempted suicide on the set of ‘Nothing but Trouble’ having forgotten his experience working with Chase on SNL.

“There has been this collective fear throughout the industry for a number of years that chevy chase caddyshack
he would someday make a comeback. The whole idea behind the donation was to ensure that he could slip into retirement but, well he’s who he is so of course that didn’t happen. A lot of people are upset with these and with the people behind ‘Community’ who have also found themselves on many blacklists,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “No one expects it to last but there is a lot of wishful thinking in that. The one thing people can rest comfortably knowing is the fact that he is in his late sixties. Realistically he doesn’t have all that much time left so the odds of running into him are reduced.”

On the set of ‘Hot Tub Time Machine’ in which Chase had a cameo, star Craig Robinson reportedly quit three times in the course of a day while working with Chase.
