ANNE HATHAWAY RUINS OSCAR CEREMONY BY ANGERING TOM CRUISE AND HIS WIFE

Hollywood, CA – Hollywood has always been a strange place, constantly torn between the old world and the new world. That schism has never been more apparent than in today’s Hollywood with stars of such diverse age groups as Meryl Streep and 
Will Smith both commanding huge audiences. While at first glance such diversity may seem great for the studios, the sheer volume of titles released every year mean that too much material can clog up the shelves and dilute the experience for everyone, young and old.
That stratification of the audience is, at least in the short term, good for audiences but with diminishing audience attendance across the board, it is a precarious time for the financiers of the films who require high returns for their equally high investment risk. At the centre of that struggle is of course the talent involved, principally the performers whose faces represent the appeal of the movies. With young Hollywood and old Hollywood now very much in conflict it appears the establishment may be leaning towards the younger group, no better exemplified by the choice of Anne Hathaway and James Franco as hosts of the Academy Awards broadcast, the ultimate in Hollywood establishment. While such a choice certainly turned many heads, no one is apparently more upset than the old-young combo of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes who will now be boycotting the ceremony, marking an end to a glamorous era.
“Tom and Katie don't want to cross paths with Anne. They used to be friends and took Anne to a Tina Turner concert in 2008 when Anne split up from her boyfriend Raffaello Follieri,” an insider told The Daily Mail. “Katie feels they were really supportive at a difficult time so she feels let down that Anne took to national TV to make fun of her. Anne didn't even warn her it was going to be on TV. The whole thing has left a sour taste with Tom.”
It has long been a tradition in Hollywood that relationships borne of Tina Turner concerts remain silent.
“This is really a major change, a fundamental shift in the nature of the Oscar show. Cruise I believe has attended every broadcast for more than twenty-five years and he brings a real celebrity sparkle to the show. Like Jack Nicholson, he has a permanent seat there and now it appears that someone else is going to have to take it over. Perhaps Taylor Lautner, he’s big right now,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “Obviously Katie Holmes isn’t that big of a deal. I mean they always gave her a seat because it would anger Cruise if they made her sit in the balcony or in the standing area and obviously you couldn’t have her sitting in the aisle, that would just be a trip hazard for all the people running up to collect their awards.”
Neither Cruise nor Holmes nor Hathaway has won Oscars.
“Cruise is not exactly in the realm of old Hollywood yet but he is getting there. He represents the kind oif awkward middle ground where no one is quite sure what to make of him, but he is certainly a part of Hollywood royalty to a great degree and it will be different without him there,” continued Temple. “Fortunately for Hathaway they are just taking their ball and going home. Perhaps in his old age he has decided to stop with sicking the Scientology dogs on people. Of course they aren’t likely to be attending the ceremony after all this, that will likely mean that people like Kirstie Alley and Jeff Conaway won’t be there either, but to be fair they probably don’t have seats big enough for her and they likely don’t have cocaine mirrors in the bathrooms anymore, this is new Hollywood after all.”
Jack Nicholson, a regular attendee, apparently has no idea who Anne Hathaway or James Franco are and could care less.
