BEAVER ADVOCATES PROTESTING NEW MEL GIBSON MOVIE

Hollywood, CA – There has been many meltdowns in the history of Hollywood but few have been as precipitous or as dramatic as that of Mel Gibson. As one of the biggest stars in the world for almost two decades it appeared that Gibson’s legacy 
was secure. That all changed in 2006 with his arrest and subsequent anti-Semitic slurs that initiated a collapse unlike any other in the history of a town notorious for its excess and secrets.
In the midst of yet another ongoing controversy with ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva the one-time world beater seems to have no end to his misery. While much, or all, of those problems are certainly of his own doing, the decline is nonetheless as sad train wreck that millions of former fans can’t help but slow down and watch. While age and other factors would certainly have caused a decline in his celebrity all by themselves, Gibson’s meltdowns may have put him in a position where there is no possibility of recovery, relegating his stardom to the Netflix queue. Still, Gibson is a big name and has proven himself over and over again as a major star, something producers of the upcoming ‘The Beaver’ are betting on. Beaver advocates though are singing a different story and are asking for producers to cut their star from the movie.
“The history of beavers in Hollywood has been a mixed bag at best, but this recent foray into the life of these incredible animals is quite simply repulsive. Beavers area wholesome and hardworking animal with not a thought of animosity towards any other being, the exact opposite of someone like Mel Gibson,” said David Walton of Better Beaver. “Mel Gibson has displayed a total lack of ethics and morals in the last few years, virtues that are completely in conflict with the spirit and nature of the beaver. It is deeply offensive that such an individual would be in a film that is so representative of this magnificent animal.”
In the film, Gibson plays the ex-CEO of a toy company who dons a beaver hand puppet to communicate with his family.
“Beavers work hard their entire lives. They spend their days building dams and making little beavers. What they don’t do is abuse their spouses or shout racial epitaphs. I mean sure they are unable to speak and have no hands but that is beside the point. It is simply not in the nature of beavers to do such things and even if they were able, they would not do such things,” continued Walton. “We are calling on the producers of this film to either halt the release of this film to reshoot all scenes with Gibson with another actor. This type of connection does not do beavers any good will and will not further the cause of this mighty animal. We do not believe that Mel Gibson should be allowed anywhere near any beaver now or in the future.”
The film has been delayed a number of times already due to the controversy surrounding Gibson.
“This movie is unfortunately one of those stories where real life interferes with art. The
subject matter does not seem to have anything to do with what has occurred in Gibson’s life but his personal troubles have put a cloud over the movie that may cause it serious problems,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “It’s unlikely that the film will be delayed much more than it already has and there is little chance that it will sit on the shelf. It’s extremely unlikely that they would go back and reshoot as Gibson is the star and virtually every scene would need to be reshot. I personally think they are going to have to deal with it and just accept that this particular beaver is going to explored by Mel Gibson.”
The Jodie Foster directed film is tentatively scheduled to be released on December 24th.
