Hollywood, CA – Charlie Sheen has certainly had a career in entertainment like few others. Even in terms of Hollywood excess and extremes, Sheen’s career, and life, has been remarkable. It all started out normally enough with Sheen getting work and 
garnering acclaim and success for performances in films like ‘Wall Street’ and ‘Platoon’, no small task considering the pedigree of his father. However excess in terms of drugs, alcohol, and prostitutes became predominant in Sheen’s life, causing him to be lost for a long time.
Eventually though Sheen came back to the land of the living, married and had kids, and eventually became a huge success again, albeit on a TV sitcom. Still, things seemed to be more or less on the right track, until this year. A New Years fight with his wife and now a recent naked tirade in a hotel room with a porn star has seen Sheen very much revert to his old ways, threatening to derail everything once again. However, this time Sheen is not alone. His recent turnaround has apparently garnered him a great deal of good will in the tight knit Hollywood community and now it is coming to his side as multiple celebrity join him in his search for the lost watch that sent him into such a tizzy on Tuesday morning.
“Charlie is going through a rough time but everyone knows that he is a good person with a good heart. He has obviously had a tough time with addiction but it is a disease, not a personality trait. We in his family have of course always supported him, but now other people, old friends, are starting to help,” said brother and fellow actor Emilio Estevez. “We have this huge group of friends who are lending their support to Charlie because we all want to see him get better. They all love him and they want things to be all right for him again. We’ve had all kinds of calls for support and even now there are a bunch of people looking for the watch.”
The watch in question is a rare Patek Philippe 5970 valued at $150,000.
“All of Charlie’s friends in New York are on the hunt. Even people who only know him tangentially are on the hunt because they want to see him get better and we all know that something like this is exactly the kind of thing that could derail his recovery. Sobriety is a long term commitment, a lifetime challenge,” continued Estevez. “We all just want to see Charlie get better and we know that the watch is very important to him. We all realize that it may very well be gone forever and that that is something we will just have to deal with but we want to make the best effort we can because we all love Charlie and the only thing that matters to us is him getting better.”
Among the searchers are Sheen’s father Martin, Natalie Portman, ‘Ferris Bueller’ co-stars Matthew Broderick and Jennifer Grey, and ‘Platoon’ co-star Keith David. Reportedly, both Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Cruise have voiced support but both are on location shooting new films.
“The reality, the sad reality, is that we are never going to see the old Charlie Sheen again. The path that could have been has been erased, it is lost forever. That does not mean that he cannot find a new direction, and luckily he has the support of family and friends in his quest to find that,” said Scrape TV Psychology analyst Dr. Sarah Welp. “A strong support network is essential to recovery over the long term and it appears that Charlie has exactly that. He has had bumps in the road but that often happens, particularly in a world with such access. Hopefully he is able to get back on track, and find that watch. It’s a really nice watch.”
‘Wall Street’ co-star Michael Douglas, who was recently diagnosed with throat cancer, is reportedly offering to appear in public appeals for the return of the watch.
