FANS ASKED TO DONATE FOOD AFTER VAL KILMER LOSES WEIGHT IN IRS BATTLE

Pecos, NM – Often times the only thing more satisfying than watching a celebrity rise to success is watching them fall. It happens to all celebrities. Time moves on, audiences change, and talent and appeal inevitably start to slip. For some the slide is 
minor, a simple move from starring roles to supporting ones. Such transitions can be handled with grace but some slides are far precipitous, falling down a seemingly endless slope, occasionally ending in tragedy.
For a good decade or so, Val Kilmer was a big star. He never quite achieved the level of stardom that his co-star in his biggest movie, Tom Cruise, was able to reach but he nonetheless remained a formidable force, headlining major films and becoming one of the most recognizable faces on the silver screen. By the late 1990’s however things had suddenly dried up. The only starring roles were in small movies and his public persona more or less disappeared, leaving an entire generation not even knowing who he was, the death knell for any celebrity. In recent years, Kilmer has made attempts at comebacks with small roles in acclaimed movies, but his former fame appears to have vanished forever.
As if that wasn’t a big enough problem, now Kilmer has fallen afoul of the IRS leaving him with no option but to ask his few remaining for help in feeding his never ending diet, requesting canned food and McDonald’s gift certificates.
“Val is a proud man and is deeply embarrassed by his situation. Obviously these financial problems are nothing new and he has always tried to deal with them privately but it has become very clear recently that he needs help and he is asking his friends and fans to pitch in, if they are able,” said a spokesperson for the actor. “The food situation has really become unmanageable in many ways and he is no longer able to maintain his current pace with the dollars he has. He doesn’t want money, he really needs food, canned goods and gift certificates. If he can stabilize his food intake the financial situation will improve.”
Kilmer was issued a lien by the IRS for nearly $500,000. The actor had a similar situation in 2009.
“We are currently in the process of setting up donation centers across the country at various supermarkets. We are also setting up a website through which fans will be able to make direct donations. Val really appreciates anything his fans are able to do, obviously he requires a great deal of food to keep going,” continued the spokesperson. “In return, Val will respond to every single fan who decides to make a donation to the cause. Every fan will receive picture with a genuine palm print from Val, in addition to a tax receipt. He really wants people to know that he appreciates their efforts and whatever they are able to do.”
Kilmer has not been able to hold a pen for a number of years and has resorted to palm prints instead of autographs.
“It really is a sad thing to see any actor who has really just done good work, or at least tried to, fall down so far. I mean Kilmer wasn’t a drug guy or an obnoxious jerk, he appeared in a lot of good movies and did good jobs in them and he doesn’t deserve that fate,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “To see him fall this far, and this hard, it makes a big boom. It shows that anyone is susceptible to the perils of Hollywood. I know for one I’ll drop a couple of cans in the box, it’s the least I can do for all the pleasure he’s given me over the years.”
When contacted Kilmer only made a series of muffled sounds.
