GEORGE LUCAS RUSHING ONE MORE STAR WARS RE-RELEASE BEFORE WORLD ENDS IN 2012

Los Angeles, CA – Every culture has robust tales about the end of the world. In modern western culture the idea, the fantasy really, of the end of everything has become a major commodity appearing in movies, books, and all manner of media. 
While most of those tales are played for drama, the motivation and appeal behind them remains potent. As we saw a decade ago with the Y2K phenomenon, people are more than willing to accept the idea of the end of everything.
The current belief system of course revolves around the year 2012 and the end of the Mayan calendar. While experts on Mayan culture think nothing like the end of the planet will happen in that year, the idea has caught fire in popular culture, leading thousands, perhaps millions, believing at least in an abstract way that in a little over a year, everything will be over. For the most part the most ardent believers in that eventuality are cultists, crackpots for lack of a better term, but a recent revelation has shown that even some of the most prominent amongst us, people who may in fact have inside information, believe that the world will indeed end very shortly. Chief amongst those is movie maker and mogul George Lucas who recently revealed 
his fears for the end of the world, and his shaky confidence about squeezing out another ‘Star Wars’ re-release before the end comes.
“George Lucas sits down and seriously proceeds to talk for around 25 minutes about how he thinks the world is gonna end in the year 2012, like, for real. He thinks it. He’s going on about the tectonic plates and all the time Spielberg is, like, rolling his eyes, like, ’My nerdy friend won’t shut up, I’m sorry,” said comedian Seth Rogen who recently sat on a panel with Lucas. “I first thought he (Lucas) was joking... and then I totally realized he was serious and then I started thinking, ’If you’re George Lucas and you actually think the world is gonna end in a year, there’s no way you haven’t built a spaceship for yourself... So I asked him... ’Can I have a seat on it?”
Lucas claimed to not have a spaceship ready for launch, but few believe that.
“George Lucas is perhaps the biggest and most prominent person to come out with the belief that the world will in end in 2012, but is far from the only famous person. Woody Harrelson, Dan Aykroyd, and Lil’ Wayne are some of the other celebrities preparing for the end. Ashton Kutcher too, he’s actually advocating preparation for the end times,” said Scrape TV Apocalypse analyst Seth Morris. “The end of times is a persistent belief throughout all cultures, across the globe. Why it is so compelling and why people seem to want the end of the world is something to be debated. It is an odd desire really.”
The Mayan calendar ends on December 21, 2012 which would also be the end of everything.
“The end is coming, there are no two ways around that. Eventually the sun will expand and consume the Earth, killing everything on it. That won’t happen for a few billion years, but is coming whether we like it or not. Something else could happen in the interim, but that is definitely happening,” continued Morris. “It would really be too bad if it does happen in 2012. Luckily for us and for Lucas the ‘Star Wars’ movies will make another appearance on the big screen before the end, at least a couple of them, when they are converted to 3-D. I’d imagine that he’ll want to push up the release dates to try and squeeze them all in before the end, I’m sure that extra little bit of cash will help wherever he ends up going.”
A Lucasfilm rep stated that if the big guy does indeed have a spaceship he will be bringing along old friend Steven Spielberg and comedian Chris Rock. No word on one time filmmaking partner and best friend Francis Ford Coppola though it’s believed he has grown too large for a spaceship to be able to break out of our atmosphere.
