HOPE THAT SHARON STONE’S CAREER WAS NOTHING BUT A BAD DREAM FADES
October 23 2010
Los Angeles, CA – Every years thousands of young people come to Hollywood with the dream of wealth and fame. For most of those people, those dreams end in failure, sending them slinking back home, direct to DVD, or into the slightly less respected
side of the industry. There are always stars though and often there is no predicting who will become the next big thing which is what leads so many people to give it a shot. After all, someone needs to be a star so why not them?
For every shattered dream there are a handful of success stories, tales of people who have come from humble beginnings and enjoyed incredible success in a tough field. Tom Cruise is one of those people, so too are Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis. All three of those people had no connections to Hollywood, they simply showed up with a suitcase and dream and they were rewarded for their pursuit. For Sharon Stone the story wasn’t quite so quaint. Starting as a model and travelling through Europe, Stone decided to quit the grind and pursue acting. For a little while it appeared that she had chosen well with huge early success. Eventually though her choices became scant and her popularity waned, something that led many to hope that her entire career had been a horrible nightmare, something that appears to not have been the case after all.
“I’m really happy to be working after all these years. It’s hard enough in Hollywood to get roles for women, never mind women of a certain age and so I am very glad to still be in the game after so long and still loving the work,” said Stone. “I had always hoped to have this kind of success, to have a career doing something I love and I am very lucky to have had that happen. I can tell you I am not going anywhere, the Stone is here for the long haul.”
Stone recently made headlines after showing off her 52-year old body in a bikini in her latest film.
“I’ve had a lot of troubles and lot of challenges but I can truly say that all of those things have made the Stone into a better person. This life has been a remarkable one and I am looking forward to everything else it has in store for me,” continued Stone. “I really like starring in these smaller films like ‘Five Bucks and Day’ and would like to continue to do so. Sure I loved working in big movies like ‘Basic Instinct’ and ‘Total Recall’ and I really liked getting the Academy Award nomination for ‘Casino’ but this is still really satisfying. This is different, but it is great working with all these people who aren’t here just for the money but are doing it because they have this passion for the work and the medium. It’s really special.”
Stone has a long list of upcoming films on the IMDB, few of which are likely to garner her another Oscar nomination.
“In those early days she was really compelling. I mean there was no denying that she was great in ‘Basic instinct’ but, I mean I haven’t seen that movie in so long that I thought it might actually be a dream of some kind but I checked Netflix and it was real, much to my surprise,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “I had hoped though that she was gone, that we wouldn’t need to worry about her anymore but I guess that isn’t that case. I guess she is going to stick around for a long time yet and that is really too bad.”
Stone nearly died of an aneurysm in 2001.
