JESSICA ALBA SPEAKS AND HOLLYWOOD LISTENS
November 11 2010
Hollywood, CA – In Tinsel Town beauty can often take people a lot further than brains. While it is certainly true that in the long term brains tend to pay out at a much higher rate, it is rare that those people possessed of large brains are able to get into
the system in the first place. The cream may rise to the top, but often in Hollywood, it is a very shallow pool in which to tread.
Because much of Hollywood is image first it makes sense that beauty often does better than brains, even if success only lasts as long as the beauty or the botox. Debating the merits of such as system is mostly fruitless, much like talking to a wall or a piece of warm toast. The system exists and always has in more or less the same form, something that has made a lot of beautiful people very wealthy. One of those people is Jessica Alba, an actress celebrated for her numerous physical attributes but rarely her brains or talent. Nonetheless Alba has been able to carve out a major career in a tough town and now, decade after her big break, she has started to give back to the community that has given her so much by giving wizened wisdom to the next generation.
“I’d been so afraid of criticism ever since I was young. Every time I’d get a critique or some redirection, I’d always just take it very personally, but now I have no problem with it. It’s just a chance to try things a different way. To play more with a character. It also gives me a chance to have some input, to use my voice,” Alba told Elle. “I know I haven’t been swimming in the deep end with some of the movies I’ve done. I wasn’t trying to. I knew what they were. Good actors, never use the script unless it’s amazing writing. All the good actors I’ve worked with, they all say whatever they want to say.”
Alba also posed for various pictures by a glistening pool.
“Film is, unlike virtually every other art, a collaborative experience. There are so many people involved in the production of movies and so many voices, both positive and

negative, that go into making a production work that inevitably creative juices are going to flow and things are going to change. That’s the nature of collaboration and is the best thing for the art,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “Fortunately the screenwriter is just about the lowest person on any production. They so often have this strong connection to the material and when things change they often get upset and so it makes sense to diminish them as much as possible. That’s when the actors come in, and it makes sense since they really bring the project to life, and change the dynamic entirely.”
Alba last starred in ‘Machete’ in which she apparently changed every single line that was given to her.
“It’s really something to see someone of Alba’s calibre decide to come down from her mountain top and bestow advice on younger actors and actresses. So often they come into Hollywood and just deliver the lines that are given to them and that leads to a kind of staleness that probably does them a lot of harm in the in picture. Now these up and comers will be able to sing out and be themselves, and possibly make magic,” continued Temple. “Sure, other people might get a little upset but these young people have dreams and they have to pursue them regardless of the consequences or the budget of the film. Young actors will have more difficulty in ad lobbing just because of their lack of clout, but at least the spirit is there, and all thanks to Jessica Alba.”
Alba will next star in ‘Meet the Fockers’. She apparently did not read the script at all, something co-star Robert DeNiro apparently did not do as well.
