NEW BATMAN MOVIE TO BRAVE THE WATERS OF 2-D

October 28 2010

Hollywood, CA – Two years ago a comic book hero showed the world that there is light in the darkness, and that night is always darkest before the dawn. That hero was of course Batman who soared to all new heights in 2008 when he exploded onscreen the dark knight poster

The success of the picture inevitably left millions salivating over the next instalment of the film franchise and now the world not only has confirmation that it is happening, it has some scant details on what to expect. Titled ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, the new film will be released in 2012 and will follow the continued descent and rise of the titular hero. Thus far director Christopher Nolan has only confirmed a few minor details of the plot, such as the fact that the main villain will not be the long-rumoured Riddler, but did go so far as to state that the film will not be filmed in 3-D, nor will it be converted in post-production. While such a statement would have meant little year ago, many observers are concerned that the 2-dimensional production may already be doomed.christopher nola

“We’ll use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we’ll be introducing some new ones. It won't be The Riddler. This is not starting over, this is not rebooting. I the look and feel of the film to be faithful to what has come before,” Nolan told Hero Complex. “We will be using Imax and high-definition cameras will be used instead of 3D cameras. There was some pressure to shoot the film in 3-D but we have all decided that this is the best way to go for this film.”

By 2012 it’s believed that upwards of ninety percent of all Hollywood movies will be in two dimensions.the dark knight interrogation scene

“This is a risk, a serious risk. I mean it’s like making a silent movie after talkies have been introduced, or like making a black and white movie. While it may certainly have artistic benefits, this is a business, above all else, about money not artistic intentions. I think it’s entirely possible that aside from the few screens capable of showing two dimensions, and the lack of cameras with which to film it, audiences in 2012 simply won’t understand how to watch the movie,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “This is more than a risk, it could very well be a death knell. I understand that Nolan has a great deal of influence at Warner Brothers, which he has certainly earned, but it may very well be that he is using that to his own personal advantage rather than for the good of the film or of the company.”

Warner Brothers has been one of the biggest supporters of 3-D since the release of ‘Avatar’.3d image

“People loved the last film, obviously, it exploded off the screen and its success was well earned but that was in the past. People want what’s new and fresh, not some four year old filming style that seems to appeal to only a handful of people,” continued Temple. “There is a very real risk that this huge franchise could well be undone by this decision and it could permanently taint the character far worse than the nipples or Mr. Freeze ever did. I wouldn’t be surprised if after this we simply don’t see the character on the big screen ever again, or at least not for a few years, once enough time has passed and the trauma of 2-dimensions has worn away.”

Nolan also confirmed that Christian Bale has been perfecting his growl for the new film and will be largely incomprehensible throughout the length of the movie.
